Hamden10680,000 M-1 Garands - Anniston, Alabama
I am too old and decrepit to compete in Service Rifle any more. I shot borrowed M1, and my clubs Garands long ago, and lately only AR NM from Rock River
I am wondering about the 308 M1 version CMP sells. Any comments? I never bought firearms from CMP. Being Pistol D it should be no problem

Batty67Crap. I've been fighting getting one. Actually, I might have to keep up the fight. No room in the safe.

They are already there.

.308 M1's shoot quite nicely and might even have a little less felt recoil than an '06 Garand.

Used to be, you had to shoot in at least one match. There was no way around it.
They host high-power matches at my local club...I kind of want to give it a try, but I highly doubt I'll be in any way competitive. I can do ok prone, but my standing technique is quite poor.
Offhand is easy to improve, just takes practice, and a good trigger
Rapid Sitting and Rapid Prone take some thought (you have to remember you have plenty of time to shoot well and reload)
go to the match,
gun,
ammo,
at least 2 enblocs,
spotting scope helps,
have a matt or a piece of carpet for prone,
enjoy
