I love the PS90 and FS2000, but if I was looking to buy something right now in the ambi bullpup vein, I'd be looking for a Kel-Tec RDB-S. 5.7 ammo prices and availability are ridiculous right now.

maybe the tavor has fallen out of favor, but the sar and x95 can also change their ejection from right to left. not as simple as others. simplest ive ever seen is the beretta arx.

RDB is fun too shoot too. i tried the rdb-c "featureless" and for some reason really liked it. been inclined to pick one up for no specific purpose.

I was one of those that said X95. But I didn't think about the ARX. So I grabbed one and by golly yes it does. AND easily. But I'm still not sure if Beretta is in the process of killing it?

I’d be very much surprised if the ARX-100 was still in production, since they were seemingly being sold for blowout prices a year or two ago. If easily swappable right/left election is the main criteria, then the ARX is the easiest to swap. It also has an easily removable barrel, and the piston keeps the insides clean. Drawbacks are a pretty heavy trigger, stiff controls, and a deep magwell that makes it incompatible with some popular mag like 30 round Gen 3 Pmags. It’s also very proprietary, so there is little that can be done to change it.

While I don't have an AUG these days, the ambi-dextrous capability was an aspect for me.

Familiarity with the controls, made for fast mag changes.

And the other recommendation with an AUG, is to chamber with the palm up. Palm down = banged up knuckles.

I wouldn't recommend a 5.7 upper.

Back during sandy hook I had a customer transfer 4 AR5.7 lowers to me from aim surplus. He couldn't get the upper mounted. Come to find out, the back take down pin hole was off by a 1/4 inch. Aim checked their entire stock and found they were all like this.

I was a machinist once upon a time. Its hard to screw up something with a proven program. Someone must have been loading the blanks wrong on one of the operations. Their QC should have caught this.

Something else to keep in mind with the Aug is you need to buy a left handed bolt and the ejection port cover can be a pain. As far as the charging handle goes i just changed mine out with a Gearhead handle and it solved all the problems and still allows you to use the forward assist.

I'm pretty sure its still in production offshore, its an issued gun in some countries. But I think its gone in the US as sales were dismal. When the price got truly cheap I got enough that spares won't matter, but I would hope Beretta USA gives others some chance of spares.

Thanks! Why is the ejection port cover a pain and what is a Gearhead handle?

I went through the same search. While I do want a PS 90, that is mainly for nostalgia/novelty. Having shot that and my CMMG 57, the CMMG is the better rifle. I know the AR platform, it accepts the same mags as my FN57, and the weapon itself is fantastic. Price was similar at least when I purchased...so something to consider. CMMG has since offered a conversion for standard AR mags to 5.7 so putting on a 5.7 upper on a standard lower and you can have a 5.7 also. I have not shot nor know that option, but came out after I owned my Banshee 5.7.

I was speaking about the ARX-100 semi-auto still being in production, because that’s what civilians in the US can get. Whether or not the ARX-160 automatic weapon that it’s based on is still in production for mil/LE use isn’t really really relevant for what we’re talking about here.

Where have you seen that CMMG offers a conversion for AR mags to 5.7? They have a proprietary AR style 5.7 mag, but it’s news to me that they have a conversion where you can just buy the internals and convert your own AR mags to 5.7.

The gearhead works is a replacement charging handle. The factory charging handle sits at an angle that makes very close to the rail and optics
it is also a bit difficult to rotate it up to lock the bolt back. The gearhead handle changes the angle down and solves all the issues.
As far as the ejection port cover goes you need to lift front of the plastic cover and slide it forward which releases it from a metal plate you must move the metal plate to the other side and that is where I have a problem reaching in the stock to hold it in place. It might just be my fat little fingers. I only move mine for my son he is a lefty and we enjoy shooting together. Overall it is a fine weapon. The Aug is my third bull pup and I have no regrets about buying it.

I shoot AR-15's left handed without issue...the ejection pattern doesn't bother me at all.
