newtoSig765Federal HST 9mm 147gr+P -- Gone?
I can't find it listed on Federal's website. Anybody know if it's still available, and if so, who's got some?

parabellumLong gone. Years gone.

newtoSig765Too bad. I ran across some videos on it, seemed like pretty good stuff. It outperformed Speer Gold Dot in penetration tests.
Thanks for the info, Para.

CitadelOnly Winchester loads a +P 9MM 147 grain round currently. Buffalo Bore and Underwood both produce a 147 +P 9MM rounds but are priced accordingly. Speer loads a 135 Gold Dot 9MM round at 1170 FPS for carbine use. I have not seen test barrel length for that. There is a Federal 130 Grain Ball round designed for PCC use at 1140 FPS. Not sure those last two are anywhere near the +P classification.

honestlouFrom what I can find, the HST 147gr +P had a muzzle velocity of 1050 fps and muzzle energy of 360 ft-lbs.
The standard HST 147gr has a muzzle velocity of 1000 fps and muzzle energy of 326 ft-lbs.
I don’t know what test barrel was used, but both of those appear to be factory specs, so apples to apples.
I know more is more, but how significant is that difference?

newtoSig765If it was available, I'd get it for the penetration performance on clothing and (I think) vehicle glass, etc.
Since it's not, I'll stick with the 124gr +P and its 396 ft-lbs.
I've heard of the Winchester load, but haven't seen anything on performance. I'll check for Youtube vids. Thanks for that reminder, Citadel.

newtoSig765Those are the standard-velocity rounds, not +P.

parabellum P9HST1 - 124 grain HST standard pressure
P9HST2 - 147 grain HST standard pressure
P9HST3 - 124 grain HST +P
P9HST4 - 147 grain HST +P
HST1, HST2 and HST3 are still in production. HST4 was discontinued in 2015, at the latest.

Yeah, I noticed that, too, but since I knew better, and it was the wrong ammo anyway, I let it go.
I almost got suckered in by them years ago. I live close enough to them that I tried to order something for me to pick up, but it seems they didn't want anybody showing up at their offices. I got the hint, and it wasn't long after that incident that they became infamous here.
I decided to Google PSHST4, and it led to Target Sport USA, which had reviews from this year, so I signed up for notification e-mails in case something shows up, since I don't recall any issues with them on SigForum. I'll post any results that show up.

LOL, I read that above and was gonna say: "Wait, those are one of the price gougers screwing folks over which Para posted about years back....." Para got there first. (thanks for the refresher)

smlsigI have three different Sigs that I EDC depending on the season etc. Is it safe to assume that all Sigs will accommodate +P ammo?
Of course most practice would be with regular ammo.
Thanks.

newtoSig765I think you're safe with any Sig, but check the manual. If that doesn't say anything, tell us which Sigs you have. Someone will know.

newtoSig765Yes, you'll be fine shooting +P in any of them.
