How long are we considered Junior Members and what are the criteria for advancing to a full Member. I'm trying to get a hold of a Member for a Classified Ad and I'm not allowed to veiw Public Profiles. It appears I'm SOL. Any thoughts? It's supposed to be hard. If it were easy, anyone could do it.

The question is- did you join the forum to become an active part of this community, or did you become a member just to be able to use Classifieds? The Classifieds section of this forum is provided as a courtesy to participating members- those who not only read the forum, but who also contribute to the discussions here. Without active members contributing and generating content, there is no forum, and no Classifieds. In my experience, those who join and wish immediately to use Classifieds are transient, and this is frowned upon here, in part for the reasons stated above. Your inability to view member profiles is not due to your junior status, which disappeared after five posts. Scammers have always been a nuisance to any forums which have a marketplace, but in recent years, their thievery reached a fever pitch. This is, of course, not unique to SIGforum. I was determined to find ways to combat the efforts of this low-life thieving garbage. In addition to making members aware of the increased activity of these parasites, and letting members know how to avoid falling prey to such, I took an additional step, which seems to have made all the difference. As of March 22, 2022, no new registrants can view member profiles. Since we strongly advise members to refrain from publicly displaying their email address (which is a pathway for scammers), the only way to view member email addresses is having access to member profiles. Since new members no longer possess this permission, the door is effectively closed to the thieves who would register here to attempt to steal the money of members acting in good faith. This is, unfortunately, a permanent state of affairs. The moment I allow new members to view member profiles, the vultures who circle this forum would descend. However, all is not lost. If a new member were to become an established part of this forum, participating in discussions of various sorts, and contributing their own content from time to time, and who might after a period of time, ask me to grant the permission to view member profiles, I would likely grant their request. There are no specific numbers attached to this. We do not say "Post for a year and you'll be granted this permission," or "Five hundred posts will get you what you want." Such a thing would be detrimental, for reasons which may or may not be obvious. If you were to say that this is inconvenient or an outright pain in the ass, I would agree with you, but my primary concern is the security of this forum and its members, and the steps I have taken have been made necessary by the scum who would prey on us.

Totally understand. I am a lifetime enthusiast of the Sig and would love to contribute. I have never really been a part of a forum and needed exactly the response you sent. Thank you. This all started after recently acquiring a P220 ST. I wanted to learn more about it, aside from them being a bit of a unicorn. I appreciate the explanation and am not much of a seller but more of a buyer, can't seem to get rid of any of them lol. It's supposed to be hard. If it were easy, anyone could do it.
