Hey all-

I wanted to refer a friend to Operation Specific Training for a class. The website doesn't seem to have any current classes?
On hiatus? Out of business?

Wish I had a cool story. I just got burned out teaching. It wasn’t really the teaching, it was the constant travel.

In the late 90s and early 2000s, I trained a lot, shot a lot and took a lot of classes. Then I started teaching. For about 15 years, I traveled twice a month and got the privilege and honor to teach a lot of guys. This month the west coast and SIG academy, next month Texas and Colorado. All while working a full time job. It was a lot of fun.

I stopped training on my own. Most of the shooting I was doing was to film social media content, It stopped being fun.

When I transferred in 2023 to a new position at my day job, I decided I was going to focus on me. I still hang around here some but I have no other online footprint. I started shooting matches last year again and training the way I should have been all along. This month I’m doing 5 matches and I hit a two day class over the weekend. My big goal is to compete at Area 2 this fall. I’ve turned down two jobs to teach elsewhere.

All of the OpSpec infrastructure is still in place. I’ll look at it again towards the end of the year and reassess.

I appreciate the faith and support that the guys on this forum and other students have placed in our brand over the years. As I near retirement, if I feel we have something to offer, we may fire back up.

Fist and foremost, good job on putting yourself first. Not enough people in the helping professions know how to do that without a hospital stay or a burning bush to tell them "it's time".

Enjoy shooting again. Luck in the competition.

We'll be here if the itch to teach comes back.

Be well.
