As a training organization offering classes from coast-to-coast, OpSpec Training relies on local hosts to help us network with the range, shooting clubs, law enforcement training coordinators and firearm dealers in the area.
Many friends and prospective students ask us to offer a class in their area. We are always willing to travel but require a local host for most classes. That local host can be you.
So, what's involved if I sign up as a local host?
We have a OpSpec Training Host Guide in PDF format. Click here to download the guide.
The primary focus for the host will be marketing the class in the local area. We understand many people will not know where to start, so OpSpec Training can provide you with handouts specific to the class to get you started. We can also help with a presentation you can give at your local club's member meetings.
We encourage you to contact your local fun shops, as most owners and managers are vested in shooters being active in the area. Frequently, they will be more than willing to promote an OpSpec Training class.
Many of our students are members of law enforcement. We encourage you to contact local departments and let them know about a prospective training opportunity. If you're a bit uncomfortable doing this, no problem; provide our team with the contact information, and we can contact them.
If possible, we encourage you to post about the training opportunity in local online forums for those interested in firearms.
We only need 12 students to offer a class in your area.
What else will I need to do?
You'll be the liaison between OpSpec Training and the range. This is important as we have range requirements, and ranges will need information from us. We'll also need your help with our staff and students from out of town.
We do have range-specific requirements depending on the program being offered. Contact us for additional information.
In general...
Provide detailed information about local hotel accommodations with suggestions.
Provide good directions to the range and local places of interest (gun dealers, ammunition suppliers).
Collect range fees (if required) from students. Range fees are collected in cash and paid directly to the range as necessary.
Take photos and video.
Help with the range set up and break down. Locate targets as needed.
Help organize paperwork during the class, including releases for OpSpec Training and the local range.
As a local host, you'll get marketing support from OpSpec Training on our website, in our newsletter and gun forums. You'll be able to participate in the class for free.
If you're interested in hosting a class, contact us, and we'll get right back to you about the opportunity. This message has been edited. Last edited by: steve495,
Evil exists. You can not negotiate with, bribe or placate evil. You're not going to be able to have it sit down with Dr. Phil for an anger management session either.

It's totally worth the time and effort to get them to your area. I would encourage anyone interested to look into your local facilities and see what you could arrange. Definitely contact OpSpec for details on what they need first, as the range owner will want to know some details up front before committing to anything.
Also, another good service for a local host to provide is being an address for students to drop ship ammo in from out of town/state.

Steve,
I am still waiting for Operation Specific to get back to me on their desired dates. RRGC is very flexible at this time, as few dates are filled for 2015.

Understood. We've been looking at dates this week. It takes a bit of time to coordinate who is available when, since we have holidays and personal schedules to review.
If you personally would like to go for a specific week or weekend, let me know via email as that will allow us to limit our focus as we look through everyone's calendar.

We're in the process of collecting the names and location of top-notch training facilities throughout the US.
