OpSpec Training returns to the indoor ranges at Front Range Gun Club in Loveland, Colorado for our Practical Fundamentals class on Feb. 7 & 8. Last year was a sell out and we're looking forward to a return trip. The Front Range Gun Club has a very active class schedule, and they also host shooting leagues including USPSA-style matches on a regular basis. We do expect this class will sell out.

We are following this class up with a special two-day Applied Fundamentals program on Feb. 9 & 10, open only to students who have completed our Practical Fundamentals program since Feb. 2018. (Contact us if you'd like to discuss a waiver, made available on a case-by-case basis.)

Their indoor range facility is climate controlled with a HVAC system using 100 percent fresh air. They also feature a wet snail bullet trap system to ensure a safe and clean environment for students.

The facility in Loveland is located less than one hour north of Denver International Airport and about 45 minutes north of the city center. Boulder, Fort Collins and Greeley are all within easy driving distance of the spacious indoor range at Front Range.

This is not a basic class. At minimum, students should have taken a basic handgun safety course and be confident with their firearm and gear. We expect students to have experience shooting on a line in a safe manner, including loading, reloading and drawing/shooting from the holster. Shooters with IDPA, USPSA, NRA Action Pistol, 3-Gun, law enforcement and military experience meet the program prerequisites.

Practical Fundamentals
Using a building-block approach, Practical Fundamentals encourages students to focus on the process of running the gun, tamping down the emotional desire to see results on the target. By using a variety of dry fire and live fire exercises, students are brought through the fundamentals of marksmanship with a focus on trigger control to help the shooter make fast hits on small targets, on demand.

Instructors*: HR Hawkins

When: Feb. 7 & 8, 2019 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day

Class size: Limited to 16 students, with a minimum of 12 students.

Tuition: $450, with a $225 deposit

Range Fees: $40, to be paid in cash directly to the range on the morning of Feb. 7.

Local Host: Rich Weingarten and the staff at Front Range Gun Club

Ammunition: Round count for Practical Fundamentals will be approximately 750 - 850 rounds

* Instructors listed for specific programs have committed to teach the class on those dates. Although we do not anticipate changes, travel delays, family emergencies or illness may result in instructor substitutions.

Where to Stay
There is a Quality Inn located a few minutes north of the facility on East Eisenhower Blvd. There is also a Hampton Inn about 10 minutes to the east near the intersection of East Eisenhower Blvd. and I-25. There are many other options available in the immediate area. If you’re flying or driving in, there are also plenty of dinner options in the area. Other than the drive up from the airport, this location might offer the best selection of hotels and dining options we’ve ever been able to offer.

Food at Lunch Break
To ensure you get the most “bang for your buck” we keep lunch breaks to one hour. If you have the ability to bring your lunch, you may do so. If you need to run out and get a quick meal, there is a Chick-fil-A located about 10 minutes east of the range. There are at least three McDonald’s within 10 minutes of the range.

Evil exists. You can not negotiate with, bribe or placate evil. You're not going to be able to have it sit down with Dr. Phil for an anger management session either.

So we have some enrolled and more space is available. Since this is an indoor class, enrollment will be limited. Last year sold out early so if you're interested we'd suggest registering soon!
