OpSpec Training welcomes the SIG Sauer Academy staff to Kentucky as we host their Pistol Mounted Optics Instructor program.

Gain the knowledge, expertise, and techniques to train your students with pistol mounted optics.

Learn the techniques to properly teach the use of pistol mounted optics (PMO) for self-defense and duty use. This two-day course is an in-depth, comprehensive training course focusing on the fundamentals and capabilities of PMO’s to learn the proper techniques for PMO sight-in and red-dot acquisition under various conditions and circumstances. After completion of this course, instructor-level students will have the skill set and techniques necessary to provide PMO training.

The program is scheduled for May 14 & 15, 2020, near Paducah, Kentucky.

Instructors*: SIG Sauer Academy Staff

When: May 14 & 15, 2020, 8:30a to 4:30p each day.

Where:
Elite K-9
7660 Old US Highway 45
Boaz, Kentucky

Tuition: $650
Payment is made directly to SIG Sauer Academy on their website.

Range Fees: $40 – Paid in cash on Day 1 of the class during orientation.

Local Host: Jerry Jones.

Ammunition: Round count for this two-day program will be approximately 1,000 rounds
Enrolled students will be able to ship or drop ship ammunition and gear to the training location.

Participants must currently be a certified semi-automatic pistol instructor, no exceptions.

  • Comprehensive review of PMO types and mounting options
  • Advantages and limitations of PMO
  • Proper PMO sight-in
  • Application of marksmanship fundamentals with a PMO
  • Alternative shooting positions in and around barricades, variable lighting and shooting on the Move.
  • Single hand, dominant hand, and non-dominant hand shooting with a PMO
  • Multiple target engagement techniques with a PMO
  • Down optic drills
  • Review holdover and offset adjustments with a PMO
  • PMO training techniques and policy considerations
  • Establishing performance based training for PMO students
  • Equipment inspection and maintenance

There are a variety of options located near the State Route 60 intersection with I-24. Here is a map listing options in the area. There is also a selection of chain dining establishments as well as a Walmart Supercenter located in the immediate area.

* Instructors listed for specific programs have committed to teach the class on those dates. Although we do not anticipate changes, travel delays, family emergencies or illness may result in instructor substitutions.
