I'll post more as the days go on. I just arrived last night at Port Clinton, OH. I'm shooting four matches while I'm here. The M1 Garand match, the M14 heritage match, the Modern Military Match and the Vintage Sniper match.

Good luck Tony! I'll be rooting for you.

Always wanted to go to Camp Perry, even if as just a spectator......one of these years.

While in Port Clinton,

"Lake Erie yellow perch is a regional delicacy, prized for its sweet, delicate flavor and tender texture.

In the hands of lesser establishments, this local treasure might be overshadowed by heavier batters or excessive seasoning.

But at Jolly Rogers, the perch receives the reverent treatment it deserves.

Each piece is lightly coated in a crisp, golden batter that enhances rather than masks the fish’s natural flavor."

I finally got back home yesterday after a few days of shooting, two days at Cedar Point and another day a Carowinds.

The first day I was thgere(Thursday) it rained so hard that all the matches were cancelled.

On Friday, I shot my double lug M14 for my first match of the weekend.

I cleaned the 200 slow prone. 100-2X

200 rapid prone went well also. 96-1X

200 standing wasn't so good.

Day two of shooting was a beautiful day!
This is one of my local friends from Tampa. We shoot at port Malabar together.

Catching the shooter's shuttle at sunrise...

Saturday was my first time shooting my M1 Garand in a match. I am pretty sure I have less than 100 rounds through this rifle. When I got it inspected, they dinged me for a NM front sight so I had to replace it. I also discovered that my rear sight aperture was very sloppy. So the night before I shot the Garand I swapped out my rear sights from my vintage sniper rifle which were much tighter than my M1 sights. I used all five of my sighters during the match to get the irons zeroed.

I've never shot the M1 with a sling and in position either, so it would be interesting. Slow prone went very well!

I had trouble with the prone rapid and I couldn't get my second en-bloc loaded. I finally got it in and had 20 seconds to let off 8 rounds. I shot an abysmal 59.

I ended up shooting a 60 in the standing stage.

After we were done, I stopped by The Marines trailer and chatted with the marines that were working that weekend. It was great meeting them!

I wrapped up the day finally meeting a good friend of mine and his fine son. We had a nice dinner at The Jolly Roger. My hotel was right across the street. We've been friends since at least 2018 but we've never met in person until then.

Sunday morning was a very long day! We checked out of our hotel and were at Camp Perry by 5:30 AM for the M14 heritage match. We were among the first on the line and watched a nice sunrise.

I was assigned a shooting partner and was paired up with a M14 forum member that I had never met. It was a joy shooting with him and I'm happy to have met him!

I also met some other shooters that recognized me from my videos. It was great meeting people face to face!

I was shooting my new GI configuration LRB M14. It has no accuracy modifications what so ever. It's not even shimmed. I had less than 50 rounds through this rifle before shooting this match. Just before the match was about to start, someone told the media guys at Shooting USA that I was a youtuber. They asked me if they could film me shooting and I agreed. No pressure...

I ended up shooting an 89 slow prone at 300 yards.

Rapid prone wasn't so hot. I shot an 82.

I actually did much better at 300 rapid sitting. I scored one point less than my slow prone and ended up with an 88.

Standing was abysmal, as expected. Shot a 63. All while being filmed...

Afterwards, the film guy did a short interview with me and my son.

I really enjoyed the M14 heritage match. It was great seeing so many M14's in one place. I handed out lots of business cards and met more shooters that used my videos at some point or another.

Then it was time for the Vintage Sniper Match! Both Anthony and I were shooting our LRB custom M14's. One built by me and one built by Ted Brown which was gifted to Anthony by Wes Howe. This match was scheduled right after the M14 heritage match, but got a late start. The M14 heritage match lasted longer than expected. Plus, there was a boat in the impact area.

This is what some of the waiting looked like...

The kids were just chilling out...

300 yard line, relay 1. There was some confusion on the line. Shot number 2 from everyone's display disappeared.

I shot a 99-5X at 300

My son shot a 98-2X.

Then came 600 yards! I kept shooting the 10-ring at 3 o'clock and I kept adding left clicks but they piled on top of each other. Then suddenly I had a huge jump left and I went back to the right again. Scored a 93, which is below average for me.

Anthony was doing great but cross-shot onto the target next to us and gave them an X! He shot an 83-1X which would have been a 93-2X if he hadn't cross-shot. He would have out-scored me.

We wrapped up the last day at 5:30PM which made for a very long range day!

After that, we had lunch with my friend and his son and then headed over to Cedar Point for the next part of our trip.

It was a great time! I learned a lot and will be better prepared for the next trip!

The day after we left Camp Perry, my daughter flew in from Oregon to spend 2 days with us at Cedar Point. I haven't seen her since last summer but her and Anthony haven't seen each other in 3 years. This was the first time she's seen me in person since losing 65 pounds and the last time she saw Anthony, he was shorter than her.

We had THE BEST TIME riding roller coasters for two days. She didn't get any sleep the night before since she was on a red-eye and ended up getting food poisoning on the plane. She just needed some food and electrolytes and she toughed it out the first day.

On the second day, we got to the park at 8 AM, opened it at 9 AM and stayed until 11 PM. We rode the world's tallest roller coaster three times! This thing is 420 feet tall and reaches a top speed of 120 miles per hour! On the second ride, they got front row and almost hit a seagull at top speed!

My daughter also wanted to do the slingshot and it was on her bucket list, but she never could find anyone to ride it with her. I stepped up and did it with her...

Well that's it for now. I'm off to bed and I'll post some more thoughts and comments tomorrow.

That’s a great report!
What did they do about the boat in the impact area? I assume it’s marked, but of course some people don’t/won’t pay attention to such things.

I can only imagine how much lead and copper lies offshore at the bottom of Lake Erie. When supplies go scarce in some distant future, will that be the target of a deep water mining/recovery operation?

That was quite inspiring. What crowds at Camp Perry!
And so great to see the young folks involved.

I'm not sure how I missed this back in August, but I'm glad it got bumped up and I saw it now. What an awesome time, thanks for sharing the report!
