m1009Poll: Which pistol to give the daughter getting married?
Speaking as a female, and small hands….the G19 is not bad, but I discovered I like the P365 legion much better. But, truthfully, the best thing would be to take her to a place with rentals and see which fit her hands and comfort first. I made a few mistakes when starting out years ago, so I recommend that first. Best of luck!

BKileI agree with all who say let her shoot several and pick what is best for her.

amcOf your choices, I'd go with a g19. I think the g19 or the 365xl/macro are the best options for a do all handgun.
And I agree with the others that say take her shooting to try out several options 1st.

fischtown7I am so glad my ex-wife's parents did not give her a gun.

For a female? Unless she has enormous hands, there are tons of better options. Even if she does, there are tons of better options.

Well, the majority of my favorite firearms in my inventory were made over 20 years ago, so there is that.
Obviously YMMV...

Well, same. But I ended up getting my daughter a 356XL.

XLTGive her the cash.

1lowlifeAs far as just giving her cash:
For me, to bequeath a firearm to my daughter when she wed was more of a personal father-daughter matter, as firearms were a part of her growing up.
The firearm I gave her had a personal connection as described in my previous post.
Giving her husband a firearm as well was more of him being lucky.
Also, she already had purchased her first handgun on her own.
The money we gave her/them was more from the wife and I to do whatever they wanted.
It was a separate gift.
To give her cash and tell her it was to buy a firearm of her choice, well that money would be more likely spent on something else.
Which is fine, at that point it is her money to do as she wishes.

tomrkbaGlock 19's are great. I like the P229 too, especially the SAO version.
The gun you get should be special. A G19 or P229 are common.
Get her something really nice, but not necessarily practical. This is a heirloom gift.

Agreed, to a point.
Certainly, there are exceptions to giving either of those choices.
The Gen 2 G19 my daughter will end up with was manufactured in 1994, the year she was born.
As well the gun is in pristine condition, it's not your run of the mill G19.
And man, if I had kept my nickel 40 P229 with an extra 357sig barrel, what a piece that would have been to hand down.

sonnydazeI bought my wife the baby
Glock in .380. With good available ammo, it
should do the job.

BeanheadVoted Glock but I would have probably voted a P229 in 9mm instead.
