As far as I know it does not exist... but I was thinking.... Why could I not pull the bullet off a 357 Sig round and replace it with a 9mm snake shot one? I have no knowledge of reloading but this seems like it could be done.... I realized that the most likely gun event I'm likely to have while walking my dogs is a snake encounter.... and I carry a Sig P239 in 357sig when I do this.... I'd really prefer not to drop back to 9mm. Edit: I just took one of my 9mm snake shots apart and it's not going to work like I thought... when you pull the shot plastic covering out all the shot fall out and there is a plastic packing in the case behind this... I was hoping the snake shot was all contained... because of how the 357 sig cartridge is necked down I'm not sure how one would load a snake shot round in one... the snake shot 'bullet' would have to be one complete plastic round incasing the shot that then would some how come apart after leaving the barrel of the gun....This message has been edited. Maybe a .22 or .38 J-frame or LCR loaded with snake-shot in your pocket when walking the dogs? Or a Derringer or sub-compact revolver? הרחפת שלי מלאה בצלופחים

My guess is the force of the propellent would adversely affect the snake shot, even if it could be done.

I just carry a J frame loaded with snake shot when traveling or hiking in the woods. ______________________________________________ Life is short. It’s shorter with the wrong gun…

CCI .22 snake shot works plenty well on our AZ rattlers. No need for anything bigger. When in doubt, mumble

I carry a P239 in 357 sig.... in fact even when I'm not carrying the pistol I have a spare magazine on my belt. I am so attached to this specific pistol that I have 5 more in various places around the house and one more in reserve somewhere... One guy on the internet just chambers a 9mm in his and the case expands or splits when you fire it.. I don't really want to do that... I guess the only solution is if the need to shoot a snake arises I'm going to have to aim well... the problem is in the instance I'm describing I'll have two dogs on a lease. But the reality is in 10+ years of doing this dog walk I've had to do this once.... My Native American Name: "Runs with Scissors"

Drop a .40 barrel in and …… https://www.cci-ammunition.com...hotshell/6-3740.html This gives you the same gun with some “shot” capability and a little more versatility / cheaper shooting to boot.

And NEVER fire a 9mm in a 40. Matter of fact, only use the ammunition specified in your manual.

I don't think you are going to be able to pull those capsules. Plus the shot in 9mm capsules is number 12. That is very, very tiny and carries a very small amount of energy. I wouldn't care to have to kill anything bigger than a cockroach with it. I read an article about shot that size in pistols out of these rounds, and the patterns (if you can call them that) are terrible. If I was going to use any pistol round shot shells, it would be the .357 or .45, which hold more shot, and come loaded with number 9 shot, which could conceivably kill a snake. I think you are better off trying to avoid snakes than to try to kill them with pistol shotshells. If you really have to shoot snakes (and I have been walking around the woods for decades and have never had to even think about killing a snake), you'll want a .410. The fish is mute, expressionless. The fish doesn't think because the fish knows everything.

We get water snakes in the creek beside our house that kill all the frogs & small fish if they aren't eliminated every Spring. The .22 won't penetrate even shallow water enough, but the .38's from my J-frame does a good job. At least that's what I'd use if it weren't against fish commission regs to shoot them. ------------------------------------------------ "It's hard to imagine a more stupid or dangerous way of making decisions, than by putting those decisions in the hands of people who pay no price for being wrong." I've fired shot shells out of a P-239 in 9 mm. In my experience, there isn't enough recoil energy to cycle the slide, so you'll have to cycle it manually. A revolver with all shot shells might be a better choice when you're likely to encounter snakes. I'd also carry the P-239 for larger predators.

If you reload -You could get a 10 mm case, -neck it down so it chambers in the 357 Sig barrel-which would give you more neck. -Then load 5grains of red dot or green dot or unique, -piece of hard pasteboard(like the outside of the primer package) -fill it with #9shot to the mouth -glue in another paste board wad I make my own shotshells when I can’t get the blue CCI capsules in this manner for 44,45(made of 308 case cut down),9mm (made out of 223), 38, 357. https://sigforum.com/eve/forum...0601935/m/8100044384 I agree that the loads may not be hot enough to cycle a semi, but they work great in revolvers and kill the hell out of snakes, mice, chipmunks and squirrels. ________________________________________________________ "Great danger lies in the notion that we can reason with evil." If you desired snake shot or similar in a pistol, wouldn't you want a larger bullet size to start with? Seems to me a Sig 357 wouldn't have much shot at all in a bullet that size.

Yeah, 357 will hold plenty to get the job done. Decisively. ________________________________________________________ "Great danger lies in the notion that we can reason with evil." Doug Patton.

The Speer 38 Spl shot shell has plenty of power. We used that factory load to kill entire family of skunk that had taken up residence under our tool shed. Range 6-8 feet and they were killed quickly so none sprayed.
