I'm a form follows function guy and have great respect for Smith and Wesson. I have several S&Ws, going back 40+ years. Having said that, this is pretty much butt ugly:

I don't see where it is any uglier than a Staccato at five times the price or a really deluxe racy gun at ten times the cost.

It stills looks like they took a Marvel Comics/Tonka toys approach to looks to bring in newer (to guns) buyers.

It's not that bad, but there are plenty of other 9mm pistols I would buy before that.

Nah, the Beretta APX and the Springfield XD-S got together. Lol.

Yes, it was hit with an ugly stick. Given what it is, that's not really relevant to anything. It's an extension of their EZ line into the double stack world. As such, it will sell to people who have hand strength issues that would give them issue with guns like the Shield Plus.

Kinda looks like a S&W mated with a Springfield XD series. They just need to stamp "Grip Zone" so we know where to hold it.

I don’t like billboards on pistol. S&W seems to like them.

It's not that bad, but the garish EQUALIZER! puts it over the top and is needless. The slide serrations - at least the rear ones - look functional and are more attractive than the "wavy" ones on the M&P series. I own a CZ P-07, so I'm not above owning a funky-looking handgun.

How is it any uglier than innumerable other pistols dating back to (cough, cough ...) 1982?
And yes, they all look alike to me as well.

I don't mind the serrations...I've used guns with similar ones, and while they're not exactly attractive, they are pretty functional. It's a plastic gun...none of them are pretty, and function should trump form for any tool.

The hunchback grip safety is the same ugly thing they put on all the other EZ line pistols, so that's nothing new. I could do without having the marketing gimmick name that is clearly designed to pander to low-information gun owners emblazoned all over the slide. It's cringe-y enough that they chose to call it that to begin with, but they don't have to remind me every time I look at it.

These awkward-looking "easy cock" pistols are not being marketed to gun people. They seem to be intended for frail grandmas.

I guess beauty (or the lack of) is in the eye of the beholder. To me the Equalizer is about average, neither ugly nor beautiful.
It actually looks a lot like the Sig P365.
IMO there are a lot of other pistols that look a lot worse. Except for the billboard name on the slide, most of the features of the Equalizer seem to be geared toward function, not beauty.

The ugliest I have is a Springfield XD Mod2 9mm Subcompact. The price was right from my neighbor. He wanted a P365 but his wife told him he could only have one pistol.
