This is a to each his own thing. I find that America 250th Anniversary Gun butt ugly. You liked it, so you bought it. To each his own. To me a truly beautiful type of gun can be found in Para's post entitled Ted Yost Heirloom Grade Colt 1911. Hope you enjoy your gun.

^^^^ I concur. Definitely not for me, either.

These anniversary & commemorative edition guns are marketed as collectibles; however, I can't ever remember seeing any that appreciated more than their regular non-commemorative versions. They're more like white elephant gifts.

I bought two revolvers from Rural King, both S&W, a model 10 and a model 19. Both no lock, 50's ish styling, with commemorative markings on the frame. Don't much care about the markings, but it was nice to get the guns. The model 10 screams "1 Adam-12, 1 Adam-12" when I look at it. Big Grin

Pay no attention to the naysayers. Both pistols are nice and a wonderful way to commemorate our 250th Anniversary; I know I won't see our 300th. Enjoy both in good health, and thanks very much for sharing.

Thank you...I doubt I'll be around for 300 either, but I'm praying my grandkids will get to enjoy these in 2076.

Sig is also continuing the trend of "gaudy 250th anniversary guns" with these P365 Xmacros...

The plastic guns don't do it for me. Now, on the other hand, a nicely engraved P226 Reserve would be AWESOME!

That is a nice pair of commemorative 1911's! If you have kids / grandkids they will surely be happy to have either or both, years from now. Thanks for showing these to us.

I myself like these. Anywhere special to get them from? I have not noticed anything in local shops.

My LGS just became a Seattle Engraving Center dealer, and they called their distributors to get me the competition; they also stock a lot of big dollar guns. I'll email you their info, but you might have luck asking your LGS to see if they can get you any 250th guns. Roger just released a nice 1911 and their are a few other lower priced ones floating around. I really like the SK Customs and will probably be ordering direct from them this week (chapter than going through GB).

...You don't have an email in your profile; shoot me an email and I'll send you the stores info.

while I find the 250 stuff silly, that's exactly the sort of business I've been looking for, thank you.
