Good choice. I’ve been running the P229 version for over 3 years now without issues. My recommendation is to purchase a C&H or similar filler plate and use upgraded screws such as those sold by Battlewerx.

I did that as well. Both are coming soon. I have a Romeo 1 Pro and a 507k that I am considering putting on the P226.

Since the spring pushes downward on the firing pin block safety plunger, and in normal operation the safety lever pushes upwards to clear the firing pin channel and in doing so compresses the plunger spring, removing the optic and the spring will not stop the gun from firing. However, it would stop that safety feature from functioning properly.

Yes, hence why I said that the FP block would be inoperable. But it's not going to go unnoticed because it'll be obvious when the optic falls off.

I got the Pro Cut Slide in from Sig and put in a new barrel, solid SS guide rod, and a new spring in it. I had all the parts on hand. I mounted a Sig Romeo 1 Pro on the pistol and I have to say I don’t think I am a fan of this optic. Its quite wide and tall. I have a plate coming in from C&H for the slide so I might run something else on it.

I have evolved to smaller dots. Both the housing and actual dot size. Been running a Holosun 507K on both my daily carry and my competition gun for over 3 years. It suits me well. I personally have found no negatives to running both smaller housing optic and smaller dot size.

I had Vulcan Machine mill a P226 slide for me and I was very happy with their work. They currently have another P226, a P229 and a P220 slide of mine for milling. They machine in the front recoil lugs. You send in your optic with the slide and they machine the cut for a precise fit. Here is my original thread where I asked the same question: https://sigforum.com/eve/forum...150027905#9150027905

I have the 507k on my 365XL and on my G19. The 226 with a Streamlight on it is already a good sized pistol. The Romeo 1 Pro makes it look really big. Its been my nightstand weapon for decades. I am just transitioning it to a RMR from night sights with a light. Its going to take some training time to get used to the new set up. I’m already comfortable with the 507 as I have been using them for a while now. Probably best not to reinvent the wheel and stick with what is working for me already. I will probably switch the R1P out for a 507k.
