My son and I went to the range today and he has the fever. He warmed up with the Ruger Mark II and I gave him a 239 in 9. I must say he did it right on the center of the silhouette @ 7 yards. I am one proud Pops.
Anyways…

He used my Sordin Headseat I purchased many moons ago. What does everyone like these days? I need to buy a new setup.

Sordins, higher end Peltors, or the new Ops Core.

All are the bomb.

I ordered a pair by Howard leight and they seem to work fine.

I've tried several less expensive models (mostly Peltors) but after buying a pair of Sordins a few years ago I doubt I'll ever buy another brand. Mine have been baked in the heat, used in freezing temps and soaked with rain and I don't take particularly good care of them.

I have a pair of sordins that are really old that still work.

A hundred dollar pair of peltos wich have a broken piece that I need to get warrantied. (not a fan of the cheap construction).

Now I buy walkers for 25-50 a pop. They work great and are cheap. I will never pay big money for e muffs again!!!

Walker Silencer Electronic Ear Plugs. I've switched over to them for everything, shotgun, rifle and handgun.

It's great for someone like me with hearing problems as I can now carry on a conversation while wearing them, something I can't do without amplified plugs or muffs.

Plus, they use compression, so there's no annoying sound cut off and back on, there's just continuous sound all compressed to around 80 dB or so.

I have researched and asked questions for months now and I have decided on the Pro Ears pro mag Gold. I bought a pair of passive muffs from them last month, rated NRR 30 I believe, and they do well. I had a complaint with the quality of workmanship on the glue job and they sent me an upgraded set of gel seals. I appreciated the customer service . The cut off response time is as fast as any other electronic muffs and faster than most using compression circuitry. The NRR of just the passive ear muffs is 30, higher than any other brand of electronic hearing protection that I can find . If anyone has more insight into these or other suggestions, please share.

I got a Walker Razor a few months back and really like them a lot. "Bang for the buck" would be a good description. They work really well and the batteries last a long time. They are also the most comfortable "ear vise" I've ever had. First set I don't want to take off after a few minutes. I'm a happy campter!

I'm in the same boat. The Walkers get the job done at a reasonable price. At some point I'll probably pony up for a expensive pair. But these do just fine for now.
