I have a 22lr silencer that gets swapped between a Buckmark and a 10/22. Whichever one doesn’t have the silencer on it has the flash hider from the 10/22 on it. Which appears to be what is on the end of that Mark IV.

Like others have said, I think Ruger probably just had a bunch of them laying around and decided it was just as cheap or cheaper to use them as thread protectors instead of machining out thread protectors that fit the barrel flush.

I mean, I have an A2 bird cage I took off of my tavor on my 10/22 takedown backpacker. It just looks kinda cool but it doesn’t actually do anything. More than anything it’s a thread protector that’s harder to lose
