I think that's a matter of "We have the parts already, we're threading the guns, so why not?"

Fancy thread protector/loudener to help trigger shot timers?

I have thought about throwing a spare A2 on my 22/45 for nothing other than shits and giggles.

My Ruger Single Six with the .22Mag cylinder could have used one!

My concern is that there’s no bayonet mount.

Kind of silly, but easily removable, and the threaded barrel would make it a nice suppressor host, and the flash suppressors work well on Mini-14s.

If you are shooting Stingers, a flash hider would be good to have.

Wow.

And I thought birdcages on 18" 556s were silly.

But I will still buy Rugers.

I have a 22lr silencer that gets swapped between a Buckmark and a 10/22. Whichever one doesn’t have the silencer on it has the flash hider from the 10/22 on it. Which appears to be what is on the end of that Mark IV.

I’ve never noticed any muzzle flash from my .22LR target pistols. Maybe I’m just unobservant.

Like others have said, I think Ruger probably just had a bunch of them laying around and decided it was just as cheap or cheaper to use them as thread protectors instead of machining out thread protectors that fit the barrel flush.

I mean, I have an A2 bird cage I took off of my tavor on my 10/22 takedown backpacker. It just looks kinda cool but it doesn’t actually do anything. More than anything it’s a thread protector that’s harder to lose
