Reference question:

I"m getting a used 229 West German Frame 229 from my company for $300. I wanted to replace all the springs, and also wanted to do a flat Bow Trigger, with an SRT to basically make a new gun with all new springs and parts.

My question:

Does anybody have a parts list on springs that should replaced that SIG does on their factor refurb guns?

Also, can you do a Flat bow trigger with the SRT?

thanks for the help.

Send it to Sig and have them do the SSP. Its worth the price. They can also install the SRT at the same time.

No idea about the trigger though.

Yes send it in to Sig. And with the SSP you get new nightsights which makes it a no brainier.

I'd send it to grayguns or burke before I'd send it to sig.

They did send me a return tag to send my pistol back, recently, after they put the wrong sights on, send me a gritty trigger, and failed to put requested parts on, etc...but I decided to do it myself rather than risk more problems, so I ate the expense for what I'd already paid them to do and did it here.

I've not heard complaints about grayguns or burke, but I've also not had good experiences with sig, their work, or customer service. With HK you suck and they do hate you, but at Sig you suck more and they don't care.

Wow, Guppy, that stinks.

I have sent Sig 3 guns for the SSP. I was happy.

"The designer of the gun had clearly not been instructed to beat about the bush. 'Make it evil,' he'd been told. 'Make it totally clear that this gun has a right end and a wrong end. Make it totally clear to anyone standing at the wrong end that things are going badly for them. If that means sticking all sort of spikes and prongs and blackened bits all over it then so be it. This is not a gun for hanging over the fireplace or sticking in the umbrella stand, it is a gun for going out and making people miserable with." -Douglas Adams

I recently sent my old “JJ” W German P226 for the full service package; I didn’t want the night sights. They added the SRT installation for $50 and the total with to/from shipping was $189. I dropped it off at FedEx on a Friday afternoon and it was delivered to my house 10 days later. Per my review of an old parts diagram and the returned parts, every spring was replaced, including those within the breech block assy. I am extremely satisfied.

I’ve seen mixed comments regarding the action enhancement package, but for the basic service plan, it’s a great deal and I’ve read very few unfavorable comments.

I don’t know about a flat bow trigger, but for basic replacement of all needed springs & parts, the service plan is hard to beat and I personally wouldn’t want to deal with either Burke or GG for that type of service - ie it would be overkill.

If it's just springs, it's an easy do-it-yourself project. As for lubricating and cleaning...that's something we all do (or should do) anyway.

The siglight sights are fairly worthless in my opinion. Maybe slightly better than the stock fixed sights, but not much, and too little contrast, too low front sight visibility, and too reflective in the sun.

The website says that the sig service plan doesn't include shipping, or almost everything else. For what they're selling, I'd do the work myself, personally. If you consider the cost of siglight sights and the springs, then it may be an okay deal, if one considers the sights good enough.

Shipping was about $55, SRT install was discounted to $50 and basic service was $84(?).

Last year, I had already replaced the springs that are included in the parts kit and had also switched to a modern trigger bar spring and main spring assembly. But I was less enthusiastic to chase / inspect the other springs & parts especially given that some are not current and not readily available from a single source like TGS. To spend such a small fee and lose so little time, it was a no brainer for me.

I concur as to the siglites. I much prefer the original dot / bar sights and thus kept them mounted.
