The good part--again as explained by the instructor (with along h/o firearms training) is that LEO's know if they are alone and in trouble, it's likely if someone stands up for them and has a CCW, he's a good guy already vetted by the Sheriff's Depar.tment.

I get the impression that if a cop shows up at a "guy-with gun" call and an armed guy is there, the cop might not give him the benefit of the doubt and ask to see proof of his CCW..
I can easily see the good guy getting shot.

The smart armed guy would no longer be armed when the cops arrive.

I've had one of the early Shield models that I've used for my back-up and off-duty since they were brand new baby-guns, fresh in the wild.

Over the years and years since I have constantly and consistently resisted shooting one offered 365's that my coworkers have MANY times offered to let me shoot at the range... I've been the "sig guy" at my department for over 15 years... carrying a P220 when everyone else had the standard Glock, or rarely a 1911. The 365's have clearly and robustly taken over the role as the back-up gun of choice round here....

But I continue to politely refuse the offers to shoot it because my Shield works just fine and I don't NEED to change... but I know if I shot one of the magic little 365's I'd certainly WANT to buy one...

So, I will continue to resist.

Congrats on the ccw, Doc!

See my update in original post. I received my CCW license 11 days after class; it was mailed out FOUR DAYS AFTER I EMAILED IN SCAN OF CERTIFICATE.

Kelly Martinez is the new SD County Sheriff. She is a Democrat; but was endorsed by San Diego County Gun Owners Association because Republican supported Red Flag laws. For CCW, she’s been fantastic.

doesn't mean you should

I was an early Shield owner (when they could be had for low $200 range) and perfectly happy too. I resisted for the first two years and finally bought, and now carry, an XL.

I would guess the XL has a slight edge on accuracy and holds a round or two more but if it wasn't an option, the Shield would be my first choice to replace it.
The XL also comes with the machined slide, ready for a dot when I want to carry that way.

Nice to have such great options.
