After a few years of looking, I finally was able to get a nice condition RSA-made Vektor Z88. I mated with a South African Police Service (S.A.P.S.) case that I had also picked up awhile ago. More history on the Z88 and SP1 can be found in Ian's excellent video on them.

The TQ is a prefix added later for where it was issued. In this case, Q = South African Police Service and T = sold to civilians, so this one was bound for S.A.P.S. but ended up being sold to civilians later on.

The pistol is covered in preservative or oil so forgive the lack of good pics. I'll get it torn down, cleaned up and propely lubricated later this week.

The case is black plastic with the contemporaneous S.A.P.S. logo on it,

"Suid-Afrikaanse Polisie" in Afrikaans

over the star burst with RSA crest and then

"South African Police" in English.

You'll note that the post-Apartheid S.A.P.S. logo of today is notably different

It happens to be the same exact case as my Tressitu TZ-99, a Walther P88 clone also made in RSA back then.

Correct. Mine was an early, unlicensed version but later ones were produced under a limited license that expired by 1991 or so, a very small production run. The Forgotten Weapons video covers it in a lot of detail

I always wanted a P88 for some reason. How is your TZ-99? Ever shoot it ? It sure looks good!

Not yet. It was languishing in the case at a local shop for two years so I made the owner a lowball offer so he didn't have to look at it any more (he laughed at me and said "ok"...I buy a lot from him).

I had a P88 and P88 Compact and also still have a Yugoslavian C99 (same as the Tressitu really). I've shot the P88 Compact. Typical 9mm and nothing specactular. For all the big words on the Walthers, I appreciated the $$ in my pocket more than them LOL.
