Beautiful piece! I bet it shoots great. There is a lot to love about those old Ruger revolvers.

Yeah, I've got one of those. Currently wears a factory spurless hammer. Oddly enough, unlike my Speed Six in .357 magnum, which also wears a spurless hammer, the 9mm version is double action only with the spurless hammer installed, and that's no matter which spurless hammer I install in it. But, with the spurred hammer it came with, it's DA/SA. Go figure.

Isn't it supposed to be double action only with a spurless hammer? I would have thought you couldn't de-cock it if it were spurless. I've never owned one so I'm probably not seeing the obvious answer here.

The top of the spurless hammer is checkered for thumb-cocking.

One of those has been on my “Must Have, but I don’t know why” lists forever!

Do they have issues with bullets walking forward under recoil and tying up the gun like you hear about in some of the lighter J Frame guns?

I’ve always had a secret weird desire for a Smith and Wesson 547 3 inch RB. Just not ready to pay collector price for something I would only have because it’s “cool”

An all-steel revolver of this weight, bullets jumping the crimp is not an issue, with properly assembled ammunition.

Great… another line item added to the budget!

I sold my SP101, so I guess I have a solid need for a Ruger DA revolver… Now I know what I’m aiming for!

Nice snag. I'll be curious to hear a range report. I have two speed sixes, both .357's. One is a blue 2 3/4" and the other is a matte stainless USPS Postal Inspector with 3" barrel.

Always loved those Speed Sixes....

Up until this thread I had no idea that Ruger had made a 9mm stubby like that! Yes I'm familiar with the SP101, but I want a fuller size gun. Well great, now that I've seen this post, I can't pretend to have not seen it. Must have one!

They also offered the Service Six in 9mm. I think that was made primarily for foreign contracts.

A very old pic of some of my Rugers. Left, Speed Six in 9mm. Bottom, Speed Six in .357 magnum. Right, GP-100 3 inch with short shroud and Lett grip inserts. I smoothed the action on this revolver, worked on it slowly for a couple of months. It's LIKE BUTTAH!

Added since this photo, an SP101 2 inch, spurless hammer, and a GP-100 6 inch, short shroud, blued.

Nice pickup!

I’m a fan of Ruger revolvers, specifically the six series guns. The 9mm Speed Six was always a grail gun of mine and I finally picked one up a few years back.

Here’s mine along wity with my 4” .357 Mag Security Six and .38 Speed Six

And again with a couple other of my other Ruger revolvers, a Redhawk in .45 Colt/.45 ACP and a GP100 in 10mm.

SP101 is a bad little revolver. I have the .357. Hurts my hand to shoot it though. This Speed Six is super nice. That pic is giving me the revolver bug.

I had a .357 blue one that I bought used. Great condition and I paid $200 way back in 93. It’s one of many I wish I hadn’t sold.

I was curious with the longer distance with 9MM rounds what Ruger did with forcing cone. I have a 11 degree forcing cone gauge so I tried it. This shows a full 11 degree angle in forcing cone. I checked my Police Six and had same results.
