Is it worth a hundred bucks to buy something that may possibly be as good or better but is an “unknown” vs spending an extra c note for the real deal?
The thing here is that unlike most so-called "Glock clones" that aren't true clones, just having a striker system and polymer frame but doing their own new thing in most aspects of the design, this RXM is quite literally a Gen 3 Glock 19. Parts interchangeable and all (with a few exceptions, like the unique frame/chassis system).
So provided Ruger doesn't somehow fail in the manufacturing processes, it gets to inherit all those decades of simplicity, durability, and reliability that you're referring to real Glock 19s having, because it's a direct copy of the design, not just a competitor/similar gun like other so-called "Glock clones".

Chuck PerryRuger released both their new 45 and 10MM carbines set-up for Glock mags, might be an indication of similar calibers to come for the RXM line? Would be super cool if their fire control module is multi caliber capable, once size fits all for any cartridge you want to run.

GeoJellyI like the looks of it, and I like both Ruger and Magpul. Even though I already have 2 G-19’s, I am putting one of these on my short list. That said, Ruger polymer autos tend to have teething problems so I’m going to wait for a few months. And I am surprised that Ruger didn’t absolutely insist on a magazine safety.

I'm sure it would make law enforcement armorers happier to pop on a new grip module instead of sending a gun off to get chopped/stippled and then retested to make sure everything is still reliable.
I can't think of too many agencies that would allow chopping/stippling on an issued duty gun at all. Agency culture is typically that you get what you get and learn to live with it. They care more about factory support and protection from liability than they do the desires of the individual officer. The beauty of the grip modules is that you can get a legit, factory supported option to fit the gun to the user that doesn't fundamentally alter the gun or affect the warranty.
The department I work at will let officers (at their own expense) to an approved aftermarket shop (use to be Robar) for grip modification. Just give the armorer your gun and the money, and they'll ship it out and tell you when it's back. Of course, they also make you buy your own equipment so it's not cheap.
It’s more and more common. Metro Nashville has quite the policy allowing some pretty drastic modifications, as an example.

Chowsergen3 clones have been out for awhile.
I think I have a Bul Armory AXE glock 19 clone. It's actually the best feeling clone I have held for awhile. I think my daughter claimed it. Or my son. I should really keep track of where my guns are going.
I like the FCU idea. Wish Glock would finally get on board it that idea.

parabellumThere would have been minimal development for Ruger with this pistol. Magpul handled the grip frame, and the Glock Safe-Action System has been in use for decades.
And yes- the large frame Glocks in .45 ACP and 10mm are certain to follow.
G42 and G43-sized versions are also a possibility, except that the slim line Glocks are gen5, which, I guess, are still covered by Glock patents.

PSA makes the Micro Dagger, which is (I think but don't know for sure) a G43X compatible pistol/clone. If they can do it, maybe Ruger can also?

SigSentryFor those that have made the purchase, does it come with 2 15s or a 15 and 10 rounder?
This could be Ruger's Lego gun. Someone should get the 22 conversion (glockstore) and report back.

. I'm thinking Magpul could do a 22lr pmag.

VgexI kind of like it. I'd purchase this over a PSA Dagger, that's for sure. But I'd likely purchase a police trade Glock before either.

Mustang-PaPaI am well invested in Glocks and have more then I really need so I won’t ever buying one myself but for someone starting out the name and price make them really attractive.
I can see theses selling really well.

- SIG (P320 and P365)

- Springfield (Echelon)
- Who else?
- Ruger American (their first trigger group attempt)
- Beretta APX (sort of); they use a trigger assembly subframe like SIG's or Springfield's, but the removal process isn't as clean and idiot-proof. Some of the group's internal parts aren't contained in place by the subframe itself, and can and will fall out during the removal process of the subframe from the grip module. Moreover other parts like the trigger bar remain in the grip module and have to be removed separately. So kind of like a trigger group...but not really.
-Steyr, purportedly the originator of the self-contained "trigger group" concept in pistols. The M series pistols are a good example of their version of a modular trigger group design.

sigspecopsI think I'll just wait for Glock to release their Gen 3 clone. I think it's called the Gen3 Gen3 .

Lefty SigHeld one at a RangeUSA yesterday. Grip angle is good and it points naturally for me - same as 1911 or Sig. Feels less blocky than a Glock too, or at least the rounded edges of the grip line up with my finger joints better than an actual Glock.
I would prefer black to gray, but that will be an option at least from Magpul.
Not sure if it's really any better than a Shadow Systems with the straight backstrap insert, but it's a lot cheaper and when Magpul release G17 and G26 size frames it will be great to have the extra options.
I would prefer a Gen 4/5 reversible mag release. Not sure why they can't do that now since Shadow Systems already does.

Don’t worry, in 6 months someone will make a 1911-angle metal grip for 550$

Matrix does, they are pricey but shoot well

heydrichNot wild about the gray frame that came with my RXM. Just ordered a black frame from Magpul. With the holidays, could be a long wait.

crue-dellI checked the Magpul website for the grip modules. They are $40 and comes assembled with a Ruger-manufactured magazine release, release spring, slide-lock spring, and takedown-pin spring.

Beretta APX as well, I believe.
