I just picked up my second one this morning, the black 3” below, to go with my 2” stainless version and I love it. It’s a bit smaller and a bit lighter than my 3” SP101 with a better trigger, 3 dot night sights and holds 6 rounds of .357 magnum. And I like the hammerless profile of the Kimber better than both Ruger and Smith. It is a bit more expensive than similar sized options from Ruger and Smith and Wesson, but not that much more and I get an extra cartridge in the .357 versions. I only put a box of ammo through it today and really only wanted to check function so I just grabbed some .38 special range ammo they had at the shop. I plan on taking it out alongside my 3” Ruger SP101 in .327 and GP100 10mm with a some full house .357 mag and sone .38 special +p next week but so far I think it’s a winner. “Everybody wants a Sig in the sheets but a Glock on the streets.” -bionic218 04-02-2014

They have one at the PX here on post, I've always admired them but its the 3" which is my least desirable one. They also have a S&W 610 4" I been eyeballing. Its funny how 10 round limit states will change your wants. 10 years to retirement! Just waiting!

5 shots of full .357 in one of the snubbies many years ago convinced me to never own them again. These Kimbers look very nice and tough. They remind me of the Ruger SP101. Q

^^^^^^^^^^^^^ I agree. I like the look though.

Those are nice. I love a 3" barrel, and that gunmetal gray is really attractive. I've gotten to handle a few of the Kimbers, and they make a very nice revolver. I have the inverse of your setup there, but in S&W: a 3" Model 60 with exposed hammer, and a 2" 640 Pro DAO. The 2" gun goes well in the pocket, and the 3" is good for the belt or in my kit bag on the trail.

.357 mag in the 2” is certainly quite a handful. I did that one time. The few times I’ve carried the 2” I carried .38 special +P, the 158gr LSWC FBI load. That’s still stout but manageable. I plan on trying that in the 3” to see how I like it. I think the .357 Mag 158gr Speer Gold Dot ammo I have will still be too painful to want to shoot much of. The only S&W I own is one of the new M&P Bodyguard models. The trigger on the Kimber feels about the same weight, but is much smoother. I am not sure how representative of S&W triggers the gun I have is though. I will try a more common S&W at the gunshop when I go to fire the Kimber again next week. “Everybody wants a Sig in the sheets but a Glock on the streets.” -bionic218 04-02-2014

Yeah I think I’d like the 2” to be hammerless as well. I got the DA/SA version with my dad, and he wanted the DA/SA, I just thought it was cool to have matching revolvers with him so I went along. But functionally the hammerless would be better. I really wanted a DA/SA 3”, but after handling this and thinking about it, a hammerless 3” makes a pretty sweet carry revolver. Especially with the DA trigger the Kimber has. I mean I’m probably not going to really carry it so it’s a theoretical exercise only, but still I like it. I think I’ll look for a DA/SA 4” combat model next. “Everybody wants a Sig in the sheets but a Glock on the streets.” -bionic218 04-02-2014

I routinely refer to lightweight snubbies in 357Mag as "Punishers." For those who like and shoot them kudos. For me... no way! Certifiable member of the gun toting, septuagenarian, bucket list workin', crazed retiree, bald is beautiful club! USN (RET), COTEP #192

You have very good taste. Both intelligently conceived and designed, I’ve found the K6S and especially the 2” variants to be mechanically elegant and superbly balanced revolvers. Owning them, I’ve discovered their sweet spot to be with 38 +P loads as you really can’t appreciate the gain from 357 magnum with anything short of a 3” barrel. I initially came to own a 2” DAO with probably the best sight setup on a snubby, I’ve recently come into a 2” DASA variant. Although I normally prefer hammerless snub guns, all things equal, I think I actually do prefer it on the K6S. Both have impeccable triggers as smooth as frogs fur. Even their wood grips are both functional as well as good looking. Kimber got the revolver right! ______________________________________________ Life is short. It’s shorter with the wrong gun…

I like your pistols. You mentioned a Ruger SP101 in 327 Fed. I have one, prefer it to 357 Mag. I also have a LCRx in 327 Fed.. I've been very disappointed in it. I bought it to carry sometimes , as the SP is heavy. But it doesn't fit my hand, heavy trigger, and long reach to trigger, even after trying umpteen different grips. Back to the subject, do they fit your hands well? 美しい犬

Thanks! I don’t have a LCR, I love the concept but I have had a hard time getting over how ugly they are. I do kind of like the DA/SA 3” LCR with the hammer though and might pick one up in .22mag. As far as fitting my hands, I have small hands so I like smaller grips. I always liked the old style SP101 grips and the compact GP100 grips. The grips on this new Kimber though are very nice and comfortable. After going back and forth between them and the SP101 grips, I like the Kimber grips better. And I love the SP101 in .327. I wish that cartridge had taken off more, I think it’s got a lot of upside, especially because the revolvers chambered in it can also shoot .32 h&r mag and .32 S&W long and short. My SP101 also shoots .32acp reliably. My ex wife used my .327 SP101 as her bedside gun with .32 h&r mag loaded. She could shoot that very accurately and comfortably. “Everybody wants a Sig in the sheets but a Glock on the streets.” -bionic218 04-02-2014

I’m not a revolver guy, but I’d been wanting a 2” Ruger SP101 for years, but evidently not enough. Someone here showed off their K6S and I was immediately smitten. I found a 2” fairly easily, bought it and discovered the same thing most others have when shooting a full power 357, it’s not pleasant but the 38 +P is nice. I too was so enamored with it that a few weeks later I bought the 4” K6S Combat and it handles the 357 okay … I still prefer the 38! If you really want something you'll find a way ... ... if you don't you'll find an excuse. I'm really not a "kid" anymore ... but I haven't grown up yet either

I have the 3” K6, like it much. I normally never see the need for full-house 357 loads, even carry. If it’s offered I usually like the revolver rated for 357, no biggie really. With the price of an older S&W, may as well buy a new Kimber.
