The gun:
KK date code (1999) P228, serial # B288478, that was a Swiss police/mil trade-in that I bought from Robertson Trading Post a while back, with the slide already refinished in Black Ice Teflon OD Green. Matching serial numbers on frame, slide, and barrel. Both German and Swiss proof marks present. Three-dot contrast slights. I have put 50 rounds through this gun, and it functioned just fine. The old worn out grips were ditched and replaced with the Hogue made SIG logo G10 Piranha in G-Mascus Green.

The first P228 I shot was many moons ago, when Bruce just moved GGI from California to Oregon. I thought I was badass, with a new to me P6 that the GGI crew had just worked on. I knew little of the Sig line at that time. Bruce allowed anyone in the class to shoot his duty P228 if we desired. Wow -- what a great pistol that high-mileage P228 was.

A chain of events pushed me down the long gun path and I never got around to picking up a 228. Now that pistol stages are becoming fairly common in rifle matches, a P228 would be just about the best tool for the job. Mongo like.

Whomever you choose will be one fortunate dude or dudette. Absolutely amazing. Merry Christmas to you and all of your clan.
