I have a Buckmark. Bought it new years ago, date code says 2011.
Haven't shot it in years until recently. It's been having a lot of failures to extract or eject. Lots of stovepipes. Thought it might be the ammo and ran about 5 different types through it. Some worked better than others and when I thought maybe it was ammo I would have failures with the ammo that had worked for a mag or two.
I might get a full mag (10 rounds) without an issue or I might have 3 failures in a mag. Besides ammo, I tried different mags, and didn't seem to matter.
The gun was cleaned before the last range season with different ammo.
Has anyone tried an aftermarket extractor?

Have you thoroughly cleaned the chamber? It isn't uncommon for a carbon ring to form in the chamber which can lead to all kinds if problems. Just my $.02 based on experience.

I will check the chamber. I stripped it and cleaned it well before I shot it. I know the extractor and hook were spotless.
Skins do you have the same slide? It can be tough to get a grip on the slide and chamber a round. When my nephews were younger they couldn't pull it back same with my brother's wife. The newer models have a much better slide design to grip.

I have an old style Buckmark(no wings on slide) and had all sorts of issues. Ordered the new style and its a direct replacement and took care of all my problem. This message has been edited. Last edited by: valkyrie1,

I have one from the first year, shot is so much I wore out the barrel, Browning said no way so I sent them the barrel... They said sorry you are right and sent me a new one..LOL... I now have one of those after market aluminum barrels...
Really hard to say what is wrong not knowing things like the round count or exact ammo being used. They do like lube, a little thin grease on the rails, oil in the winter. I use Remington Golden bullets or other H/V rounds but it's not too fussy. Do you know anyone with an ultrasonic cleaner...they work wonders on guns like this, just make sure you also give it a bath in light oil when done... Maybe polish the ramp a little, stove pipes are usually slow/dirty mags, the ramp or sluggish slides/incomplete recoil...
You can also change the extractor&spring, the recoil spring, buffer pad along with the cleaning above...
Make sure the two bolts on top of the slide are tight, not farmer tight but finger tight using the short end of an Allen wrench. Those are known to come loose on Buckmark pistols and will cause problems.
I use CCI in my Buckmark and never a problem. I rotate among a Buckmark, Ruger Mark IV and an S&W 41 and have found there is a lot of crappy 22 ammo out there. Got rid of all but CCI Minimags, life is good. There are several different loads from CCI but have found that all I have used are good.

I have the 5.5" Field model and the sight rail goes the length of the gun. It is held w/ 3 or 4 screws on top and they are not exchangeable. If you assemble incorrectly you will tighten it down where it interferes w/ the slide movement to the point it won't budge. It should not be too difficult to chamber a round.

Every time a Buckmark guy had issues at my range it was the screw(s) on top. I’ve never owned a Buckmark so that is the extent of my knowledge. That is the first place I would check on a clean gun.

Just put about 100 rounds through this afternoon - no issues with or without a can attached, but the top screws holding the rail on definitely loosened a bit. I’ve had good luck with Federal bulk pack ammo.
I have a Buckmark, haven’t shot it in a while. In general I’m more of a Ruger Mark 2 fanboy, bought 3 over the years. The Mark II will digest most any ammo.
Maybe it’s a Browning thing, my 1911/22 Browning is a little picky on ammo also. Last I recall my Buckmark ran ok.

Tandemkross makes an excellent aftermarket extractor. I have one in my Buck Mark.
