This article at Osage County Guns does a good job of explaining the mag baseplate changes. The X-grip with magwell would need the 21-round magazines with the newer style tapered base and square pin bottom. https://www.osagecountyguns.co...floor-plate-updates/ The best price on those currently I believe is GunMagWarehouse, $38 for either black or fde https://gunmagwarehouse.com/si...tended-magazine.html https://gunmagwarehouse.com/si...-round-magazine.html

Per the discussion in the link, the parts can be swapped out - part number's KIT-MOD-MAG-FLR-PLT-BLK-798681591862-FLOOR PLATE, MAGAZINE, FULL SIZE/COMPACT, SNAP, BLK. Are Californians forbidden from ordering them into the state?

Swapping the floor plates won’t solve the problem. The first generation magazine tubes do not work in the X grips. (Some engineer should get spanked for that, but oh well.) I had the same problem with an X grip on the P320 my son was shooting. None of our mags would work. Bought a set of Grayguns basepads and figured I was good to go. No such luck. Shopped for mags. GunMagWarehouse confirmed that the ones they were selling were gen 2. Bought a set and they work fine in the X grips or the old grips, with either the base pads they came with or the GGI ones. All this was with non-magwell grips, but I suspect would be the same for the magwell grips. I’d call Sig Sauer customer service, see if they have ten round versions of the magwell grips, get the part number from them, then do some shopping. The other possibility is to buy the extended base pads and buy gen 2 magazines, but that would be annoying. One nice thing about the P320/P250 ten round magazines is that they made them 10 rounders by pressing a couple of dimples in the tube. All the other parts seem to be the same. This beats the Italian 10 rounders for the P228 and P226 which use a shorter tube and a “base pad” that is a plastic block taking the place of the bottom part of the tube. The top part of the P228 and P226 is exactly the same. The only difference is the length of the “base pad”.

I use springer precision .25 base plates on 10 and 17rd mag bodies. The .375 would give you more of something to grip in the event you had to pull the mag out. Mine work great with magwell or without.
