I just saw a few legions advertised as all black , Does sig now make all black versions of the P series or is this aftermarket coating?

The all black Legions are made for the LE/1st responder crowd. The grips are non-medallion plain black checkered G10. It's legit.

I have a P220 Legion with the black nitron finish. I ordered it through SIG's LE/Mil program.

I too posted the same question not long ago, but ultimately opted for the 'standard' Legion color/grips. FWIW, after seeing the LEO Legion in person, and comparing it side-by-side next to the 'civilian' version, I realized why the black made perfect sense on a duty belt. The black also makes it a beautiful looking handgun, but I went the other direction since this is not a duty weapon for me, and I scored a great deal on a lightly used gray Legion.

Great info.. does the Black Legion have a different coating on the barrel?

I have a new one and it appears to have a more slicker surface than my former PVD Legion’s barrel when they first came out early on?

There’s no oil on it but yet it feels and looks much more like some different coating.

So, someone 'splain to me what "Diamond Like Carbon" is. Which is a really convoluted term since diamonds are carbon and I don't think they would really work well as a barrel.

Also, it sounds like only government employees can get these?

All first responders are eligible from LE, veterans, military, FD, EMT, and some others as well.

I did put some legion symbols in the grips, I did not like the solid black grips. I changed a few other things, great pistol and this one has a factory red dot cut.

Some dealers will sell to non-government employees. I found both on GB. The top one is the LE model and the optic has a shroud.

We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. I know there have been problems with the gray coating but I really like it and so I won't be getting a black one.... and since I've never worked for the government seems I can't anyway.

I really like that 226! I’ll need to see how I go about ordering one. See if my LEO dealer can do it or if I do.
