CDNN hooked me again. They have these in blued and SS in stock. Series 70. I had a stainless Series 80 Colt Enhanced Commander in .38 Super back in the '90s, and like an idiot, I sold it. I always wanted a blued Government in .38 Super and for under $900 I couldn't pass it up. Now, a few more magazines and some ammo, and a nice leather holster.

Beautiful little Colt. I bet it will shoot quite accurate. Last stash of Super ammo I had was not my favorite brand but I snagged it because there just was not much locally. I couldn't own a new one like this without having it turned into a target pistol.

38 Super's are just so awesome. A fun cartridge and if you reload just as inexpensive as 9mm.

Great pick up and if you reload 38 super is fun to play with. Been loading some nice HAP 125's lately that shoot great.

That is a nice looking pistol
I have always been intrigued by the .38 Super and vowed someday I will own a pistol in this caliber.

When I grow up and get on the positive side of my bills I want to finally make it happen.

Gents,

Congrats on your new pistol! I made the plunge and got a stainless model this year and love it. It's replaced my Government Model .45 as my primary carry gun.

Enjoy!

Nice! I'm a sucker for 38 Supers! I just purchased a NIB 1974 Colt Gov't stainless to go with my others.
Reloading is absolutely the best option for this caliber although you can find good factory ammo, defensive & practice online.

Beauty.

That's like being tempted by a beautiful girl, even though you know she's not the girl for you.

I love the classic lines, even though from a personal shooting perspective there's just way too much that doesn't work for me. But that doesn't stop be from admiring and lusting after them when I see them.

^^ I know exactly what you mean. I get hammer bit at the drop of a hat, but there's no more attractive a configuration for the 1911 than blued steel and the simple grip safety.

Perhaps a nickle model as the stainless Government Model didn't show until '87 or '88. At that time they were all .45 ACP.

Very nice!

I started looking at a new DW Guardian in 38 super and I had to force myself to quit. I don't need it nor do I need to get into a new caliber...and an expensive one at that. But I LOOKED.

Nice!

38s are always fun, be it with practice ammo or Underwoods.

Let us know how it shoots.

Absolutely beautiful. That, plus it is chambered for .38 Super, makes it even better!!!

There is just something about a 1911.

Congratulations!

Looks nice!

I picked up a stainless Colt Competition .38super late last year. It seemed sloppy loose compared to my other 1911s but shot well at distance, so I'm leaving the upper alone for now. May fit a Kart barrel and bushing later. I did fit an Ed Brown Hardcore magwell and a C&S ignition kit, now working on checkering the front strap. I intended it a project from the start and stainless finish is easy to work with when swapping parts.
