I put another 200rds through some Shield mags with my G48 today. Small sample size but no issues. I've been eyeballing either a Johnny Glock or Tactical Pontoon trigger assembly for it too.

I have two PSA dagger mags for my 48, probably just cuz I was bored. Had one FTF with on and the other ran fine with about 50 rounds. The reality is I will never trust them and got them to play with. A 10 rounder and a spare is fine with me.
I absolutely love my Glock 48 though.

I usually carry 11 in the gun and a 10 spare in the pocket. But, like I’ve said, I like the fact I can scale. I can carry 11 in the gun with a 15 round spare or straight 15s.

Yeah I “feel” fine with 21 rounds on tap. I have no illusions that you can plan for an incident as there are too many variables and it’s really just risk mitigation and “you pays your monies and takes your chances” so to speak but as a fairly low speed, high drag dude who tends to frequent fairly low crime areas I “feel” like I can cover most of the “bell curve” with 10+1 and a reload.
Please note that in no way is this a statement of “You only need X rounds” or “why would you carry X rounds/mags” etc. It is simply that my own personal risk analysis (even though I do tend to carry a higher capacity firearm) is that I am comfortable with 11 rounds in a gun big enough for me to shoot well. Please gentle readers don’t run and say some guy on the SIGforum said we should only have 10 round mags.

My two dagger mags had lots of flashing on the inside. Once I cleaned them up they loaded and fed much better. The base plates with the PSA logo when fully loaded, appear very bowed compared to base plates from other pistols. I'm going to switch back to the Glock 10 rounders, as I think the overall mag is going to be lighter.

The Glock 43x fits nicely into the summertime EDC rotation. I have a dozen PSA Mags that have functioned great with a few thousand rounds down range for the bunch but stick with the OEM for carry. Here is a good video for those interested in Mag Modification.

Today I started cold at the 20 yard line shooting the Vice Pres. I historically suck at the Vice Pres at distance. I shot 10 reps with the 43x and 10 with the G19.
My errors were greatly magnified the faster I went with the 43x. My overall hit factor was higher with the 19 making the small mistakes.

I've shot several of your classes and I have a hard time believing this, so spill the beans, where do your struggles lie with this drill?

Visual. Making the gun go exactly where I look at speed. And then I try to shoot faster to make up for it.
That always works out good.
I can’t clean it in about 12 seconds but when I try to speed up, I wind up accepting anywhere on the brown instead of focusing on a small spot on the target and driving the gun to it. And at distance I have issues remaining target focused at speed.

I shot about 300 rounds today shooting Simple two target transitions from about 22-23 yards. That’s where the barrel was sitting so I laid all my mags on it. I’ve been working vision hard over the last several days and it paid off a little. Draw fire 2 transition fire 2 from concealment. Average below 5 seconds.
Shot just a few reps from 7 yards. Average below 2 seconds. Targets were about 5 yards apart.

Gotcha. Appreciate the response.

As I'm getting closer to retirement I started carrying smaller, lighter guns. On a whim, I picked up a 43x, installed Night Fission Costa sights and had the grip stippled. In my hands it shoots about the same as our G19s, sans the additional rounds, weight and thickness. I'm happy with the trade off and don't feel under-gunned.
I'm currently carrying it in a Tenicor kydex holster. For the heat and humidity of Florida, it is probably the perfect carry gun.

Glocks have never really fit me. I shoot them well (from a layman’s I can’t shoot for shit kind of perspective) but they never gel with me.
When it comes to the slimline 48/43x, however, they are PERFECT in my hand. I have a 48 that I love and have tried most of the other “slim/micro 9’s” and I’ll be damned if that Glock 48 doesn’t just work for me. So much so I might pick up a 43X. Yes they have perceived drawbacks (large for 10 rounds etc.) but they surprisingly work really well for me both shooting and carry.
After owning the 48 for a while now, which I really just bought as a “50 state gun”, I am seriously considering a 43x as a backup to it as I like it far more then just a “50 state gun”.

When my friend decided to buy his first handgun, I took him to the range and let him try out a variety of my pistols, G19, G43X, Beretta 92, Walther PDP, 2011. To my surprise he liked the 43X the best, and ended up getting one for himself.
