Several P225's showed up recently on the local market. While I was not really looking for a 225, it is tempting with 2 nice examples close by. A few questions: One is clearly older, it has the grey/white box, 'W Germany' on the side of the slide and proof marks on the nose of the slide. Comes with the box, three mags, test target, etc. Very good condition $700. The other is newer, blue box, 2 mags, 'Germany' on the side of the slide and I do not think the nose of the slide has proof marks. It is in excellent condition; the seller's claim of under 100 rounds is quite believable. Asking $850. Curious about the differences, if any, between 'W Germany' and 'Germany' version. Thoughts on the prices? Thanks!

I believe there are four (basic) P225 iterations with "folded" carbon steel slides. First, heel mag release. Second, "traditional/classic" P225 with thumb mag release. Third small batch of about 500 imported of the classic P225 last run with a P225 "Polizei" rollmark. And the P225-A1. Stainless machined slide, and the slides do not interchange between this or the P225. The P6 is the European version, and the P225 the American market version (that came after), basically the same as a P225, but some minor differences, mainspring, feed ramp, notch in the hammer (dropped weapon indicator), and rollmarks. Price is really what you believe to be fair to you. But those prices are not out of line. "the meaning of life, is to give life meaning" ✡ Ani Yehudi אני יהודי Le'olam lo shuv לעולם לא שוב!

^^^ The P6 is/was the true German Polizei pistol. The last batch of the P225s ever made (in 2010) has the "German Police Pistol" roll marked on the left side of the slide. That P225 was likely made to pay homage to the P6. Then, there is also the P225 from Switzerland, with the "Montage Suisse" roll marked on the right side of the slide. Montage Suisse = Assembled in Switzerland. Q

I did not say it very well, but that is where I was trying to go before I fell of the monkey bars... "the meaning of life, is to give life meaning" ✡ Ani Yehudi אני יהודי Le'olam lo shuv לעולם לא שוב!

If you want a shooter get the cheaper one with 3 mags. Mags are fairly rare and expensive nowadays. --------------------------- My hovercraft is full of eels.

They are great shooters and feel soooo good in the hand. I own two(2) P-6s that I bought way back when they first came in the USA. Best decision I have made in a long time.

Does the 850 one having serial starting with "675-"? Iirc, there was 500 marked "Polizei" and 500 made in Germany triple serial (no proof mark) that TopGunSupply sold back in '09ish. Prices must be a sign of the times I suppose. However, given the price of mags (I assume they're not marked P6), I might offer a deal on both. Those mags may be my favorite single stack, reminiscent of the P38. 2 is 1.

My vote would be for the $700 WGerman gray box P-225. Believe it was 1995 that items were required to use Germany and not WGermany or EGermany. Other than "Germany" marking everything stayed the same.

The marking was "German Police Pistol" as noted above, and they all have proof marks. Not at the old location (chin of the slide) but at the right side of the slide. Proof marks are also present on the frame and barrel. Q
