I've been running HST for years and don't plan to change unless something else bumps it off my radar. Great round with proven performance in any caliber I carry.

In all my Pistols I carry Federal HST Ammunition. My everyday carry is a.45 ACP and it is always loaded with HST 230 Gr +P, If I run out of the +P stuff I will run the standard pressure HST.

These are Speer Gold Dots, according to the Underwood tech I spoke with. They are just not permitted to use the "Gold Dot" name. They do identify them as Speer, though.

My carry 9mm pistols are loaded with either 124gr HST or GDHP. The 642 has +P GDHP loaded in it, and Critical Defense in the LCP.

147 grain standard pressure HST Works great in handguns. Subsonic for Subguns with a Suppresor.

9mm 124gr Gold Dots .40 180gr Gold Dots .45 200gr +P Gold Dots I just haven't found anything that performs any better. Others may perform as well, but I don't think better. The best defense is a good offense, and I'm really offensive. ![]()

Over the last couple years I have moved to almost all 9mm handguns; the only non-9mm I have left is a P229 in .40 (also have a .357 Sig barrel) and a P239 in .357 Sig. All of my defensive ammo is either Gold Dot or HST, regardless of caliber. When I was buying.357 Sig, I could get any bullet weight I wanted in GD or HST as long as it was 125gr, so that’s what I bought. For .40, I was always happiest with 165. As for 9mm, I’m slowly transitioning from Gold Dot 124 +P to the standard pressure HST 147. The 147 works well in everything I own, so that’s what I am going with until something better comes out.
