I ordered my Seecamp directly from the factory when they were in Milford, CT and Larry Seecamp was still the owner of the company.
For a small upcharge, they would apply a custom serial number to the frame. If I recall correctly, a maximum of eight characters.
I got my initials and the caliber for my custom serial number, and it was exactly eight characters. You also had to have at least one number in the serial number string.
Again, if I recall correctly, the upcharge when ordering a new Seecamp with a custom serial number, was thirty five dollars extra.
The new Seecamp Company is owned and operated in MA now, and I read on the Seecamp website and the Seecamp Forum that they no longer offer custom serial numbers.
My Seecamp is the only firearm in my collection that has a custom serial number.

In addition, when I ordered my Seecamp, they had some kind of a deal going.
If you ordered a second magazine when you ordered the Seecamp pistol, Larry Seecamp signed his name on the side of the magazine tube with an electro-pencil.

Well, maybe not very cool but kinda cool. Reminds of when you would check those federal reserve notes as a kid for the best poker hands.

While not 'cool' per se, the first gun I ever bought was a G19 with my local airport code (which I essentially was flying weekly thru at the time) and with the 3 numbers of the month/day of my birthday for a Serial Number.

I've got a JM Stamped Marlin 338 MX that was the last one out of the New Haven facility, before it moved to NY.

The provenance I have from Bob Tinari, former head of their QC, is that the rifle had been held for an exec who failed to get it in time before Rem bought them out and then fired them all.

The serial number is 910000xx with the last two numbers being the number I wore in HS, college and when playing ball in Europe. What I refer-to as "my lucky number."

It was the last 338 MX released, from any factory, by Marlin.

Closest thing to cool I have is an AR lower with a 4-digit serial number (with some leading zeros) that's the same as the combination to the first bike lock I had as a kid.

The serial on this one is JEG6300. Something that is very easy to remember. BTW, top barrel is 410 and the bottom is 28 gauge and it's an absolute perfect fit.

I've stopped counting.

If it really was a "subscription gun", it probably got something extra special picked out.
I don't know if Marlin did that, or called it that, but some companies do/did. Had certain numbers set aside for important folks, people in the company, industry folks, friends of the company. Any new gun that came out, they'd have the opportunity to buy it with that serial number.

The T/C rifle I posted, it has what you'd call "exhibition grade", but I swear Mr. Jurras called it "employee grade" when describing the rifle to me, meaning something hand picked and kept aside for special rifles.

I purchased a S&W Performance Center TRR8 .357 magnum revolver with the last numbers of the serial number 0666, which is generally used in reference to the Devil, the anti-Christ, or just plain evil.

Somehow fitting.

I have a pair of S&W revolvers with sequential serial numbers 3 & 4.
The boxes even have "Low Serial#" feature specified.

I coveted a kimber Montana in 280 ackley… finally I saved the money to get it, and ordered it from a friend of mines shop. It showed up and lo and behold the Serial number was the exact date of my birth. I took it to alaska and shot 3 deer there, moose, and down here: 3 deer, black bear, and 2 rams. It’s become my go to “mice to moose” rifle. Add to that .35” groups with hand loads… it’ll never leave my collection.
