I interested in buying one. However, I have never one and don’t know much about it. Can the forum give me some advice?

My wife gifted me one and I have had no problems with it. Just realize it is a full size pistol. But that also means you have a lot of magazine capacities to choose from up to a foot long 30 round option. If you like bigger weapons, you have a good time with the M–17.

Love mine, I went with the no safety version. You can purchase a compact slide and a grip module if you want to make it into a smaller gun.

Unless you really want a thumb safety gun, maybe just get a regular 320 of whatever feature set you might like. Other than the manual safety, there really isn't anything special about it.

Its a 320 under the covers. If you want something that is a 'clone' of the Army issued gun that's what you should get. I have no issues with mine and like any 320 if you want to make it something else its as easy as ordering parts to change literally every single thing about it. There is tremendous aftermarket support for it given its situation, but that's mostly true for the 320 overall.

I have a commercial M17 that I shoot a decent amount and have nothing bad to say about it. It’s comfortable and accurate and has never had a failure. I like the trigger for a stock production striker gun, and the sight picture is quick to acquire despite not being a fan of 3 dots.

The nice thing is that you can change a lot about the 320 to fit your style and comfort. I see some people switch out the grip frame for a Wilson Combat one with better texturing and contouring, though I’ve not yet felt the need to switch out anything.

I’d say try and rent one—maybe even side by side with an X carry or other X frame variant—and then decide if it’s a good fit for you.

Regular P320's go for really cheap (around $500) I would definitely handle some before spending more for the "military" model, also once you have an P320 FCU you can do all sorts of things as far as different sizes so its not a permanent full size gun.

I’ve got the 320 X Vtac that I really like (except for the sights, they are too busy for me). It’s a great shooting pistol, I have not had any issues with it. It’s also very accurate, I would expect the M17 to be no different. It’s a good size pistol though.

I had one and replaced the grip module with a X-Carry. To me, it is a much more comfortable grip module to hold and shoot with, although you will have to make cuts in the module for the thumb safety. It is not hard to do and the safety covers a lot of ground, so if you screw up and make the cut bigger than normal, the safety covers it. The modules seem to outline where the safety cut is and as long as you follow that, you will be ok. Very easy to do.

No M17, but I have an X-vtac and an M-18. Never an issue with either of them although I do prefer the X-grip over the standard grip of the m17/m18. The P320 platform is far superior to the Glocks in my opinion I'm just not a glock fan.

I had both an M17 and M18. Solid guns, but I didn't like the rear sight. It's wide, bulky, and obscured more of the target than I like. On the other hand, I now have an X Carry and a full size X with RDS that I love.

320 is a good platform. It's mix and match. Find something about it you don't like and it's pretty easy to replace it with something else that you do.

I did the same thing. The X-carry grip makes the gun feel and handle like a 1911.

Congrats on the purchase. As for OWB holsters, that's not something I use much these days. And it's a bit of a incomplete question. Are you going to use a reflex optic? Weapon light? Need integrated provision for an extra magazine or two?

My go-to when I did occasionally do OWB was the leather Desantis Speed Scabbard. It holds quite flat to the body and can be set for vertical or FBI cant on the belt. Desantis now cuts variants these days to be optic-friendly with many popular gun models including the M17, but if you're planning on putting a weapon light on, this type isn't going to work for you. I have several for a number of different pistols and I've been thinking about picking one up for my own P320s, just in case I ever decide to carry one of them when we out at the country property...which come to think of it will likely never happen, seeing how Glock-encumbered I already am. Wink

I REALLY like the Safariland holsters with their GLS retention (I think that's what it's called....578-GLS). It retains the gun very securely and to release the retention, all you have to do is get a good grip on the gun because the release is right there
