Pawn shop find! Mfg 1973. I love the target grips. It's not pristine but I've always wanted one. Not sure why they put adj. sights on such a short barrel.

They are nice guns, a 2.5" just feels right in my hand.
Those are great grips, the skinny ones are worthless.
Nice pick up!

Because if it had fixed sights it wouldn’t be a Model 19.

Wink

Nice gun.

Would be a good candidate for a Factory refinish. Or, carry as is.

Nice find!

I have a 2.5" 66 and love the sights. I find it much easier to shoot well than a J frame with the groove.

Thanks all - I assume it's an ex-LEO gun.
I will give the refinish idea some thought.

I sure wouldn’t refinish that honest old workhorse.

Nothing quite like a pre idiot lock K frame in 2 1/2-3 or 4 inch barrel. I had a 66 with the 2 1/2 inch barrel and it was sweet to carry. If I come across another that has a price that doesn't make me vomit I'll snag it.

I love 2 1/2" model 19s. At close range, if you manage to miss, you'll set the bad guy on fire, and he'll be stone deaf for the rest of his life.

The 19/66 are the most handsome Smith revolvers, imho.

Were it mine I would enjoy it the way it is.
My collection is a mix bag that get shot from time to time.
The new ones have picked up scratches but that is ok with me.
When I pass them on to kids , hopefully they will be enjoyed some more.
My thinking they are tools to be enjoyed

Very nice. Most I would do with it is polish with some Flitz or Simichrome.
I have a very similar dash 3, but didn't get the correct grips with mine.
