If I’m keeping it simple I do agree with you but have you ever considered how happy you would be if you Just thought everything you wanted? Would that get boring? Wouldn’t that eliminate the desire aspect? The WANT? I have the money to buy Pretty much whatever I want but if I did that then the fun of the search would be gone. 10 years to retirement! ^^^ Yeah, but the WANT never stops. So, you keep buying. Then WANTING. Then buying. And so on and so on... Q

It’s true, I’ve gotta keep that good balance of about 90% want and 10% buy so that I CAN buy whenever I truly want 10 years to retirement! Just waiting!

I am not a "want everything" kind of person. I think about what I want before I get it , why not ?

Then we totally agree!!! I’ve also gotten better at sleeping in purchases and knowing another one will usually come my way if I really need it. 10 years to retirement! Just waiting!

Depends on what you want. If you want a p365 then sure sleep on it... there will be more if the one you find sells.. if you want something relatively rare and you see it.. you buy it because who knows when another one will show up.. I did this years ago with a p7k3.. I wanted it I shoulda bought it.. now I can’t get one in the same condition anywhere near that price..

My other Sig is a Steyr. |
Guess I'm more of an opportunist. I didn't want an Allround for more than about six minutes and $888 later...

A couple months ago I bought a 9mm Ruger Speed Six off GB. I probably paid $100 too much but it’s a gun I’ve wanted for at least 15 years, they don’t make them anymore and you just don’t see them come up all that often. “Everybody wants a Sig in the sheets but a Glock on the streets.” -bionic218 04-02-2014

Love the speed six. And the security six. I walked into an out of state shop that I used to visit a lot, and on a table, in a pile of pistols that hadn't been processed, was a speed six that looked like it got fished out of a lake. Finish was shot. Grips cracked and falling apart. It was not a show piece. The store took it in a lot as a trade-in. I asked how much. They didn't know. They hadn't even processed it in yet. I asked to look at it. Mechanically, it seemed perfect. Cosmetically, it was a disaster. Someone had magnaported it. The timing was good, endshake and cylinder play was good. It was smooth, just looked rough. I think I got it for one seventy five. When you find that one thing you just have to have, it doesn't always pass the wife test, logic test, investment test, price test, timing test...but sometimes it's still the right choice. After all, the bruises will heal, and the dog house isn't so bad after the third night (dog stops biting on day two, and gives up)...but that pistol will still be there waiting in the safe. Worth it.

The last gun I bought was a brand new 10 round 4.2” GP100 in .22lr. I think this was back in March or April. There are very few of the 4.2” barrel versions around. In fact, I haven’t seen one for sale since I bought mine. At the time I paid $600 for it which, to me, was a bit higher than I wanted. Then and still today, I couldn’t be happier with the purchase.

Prepared for the Worst, Providing the Best |
All this talk of 9mm speed-sixes and 22lr GP100s (I was actually just looking up .22lr SP101s earlier today!) is gonna get me in trouble. My want list is actually really short right now...like I could probably count them on the fingers of one hand...but those are two I'd have a hard time leaving behind on the shelf if I stumbled across them in my LGS. The bastard seems to have a knack for finding stuff like that lately, too, and leaving it out where I can see it .

I have the 8 round SP101 in .22lr as well. It’s a real tack driver and seems to always make the trip to the range.

And I have one of the original 4” 6 shot full lug .22lr SP101 revolvers. It’s a terribly heavy gun for a 6 shot revolver, which makes it an excellent shooter. “Everybody wants a Sig in the sheets but a Glock on the streets.” -bionic218 04-02-2014

Gracie Allen is my personal savior! |
There may be good cause for patience. I've emailed Lipseys about a run of the blued 5" GP100s in .22LR and been told they're considering it. At the same time, they do expect to bring out a 9mm version of the SP101 15707 in the next year or so. Dang thing looks like a neat iteration of the old bulldog-type revolver to me.

Yep. H&K P7. Much like the imported BHP's that are getting really scarce. Prices weren't bad when they first hit the market. Now, try finding one under $1000. ______________________________________________________________________ "When its time to shoot, shoot. I'm generally in the "screw it. I want it, So I will buy it" mode. But lately prices have been so silly i have gotten a bit angry and have stopped even looking. Bad time to be looking for guns, ammo or components.

About a year ago I started looking at used P320 Subcompacts on Gunbroker. I bid very low on two thinking I'd get outbid on one and just keep bidding on the other. I won both for a total of $650, not sad about that.
