S&W 39/59 series (post your pics)
Anyone a fan of th Smith & Wesson 39 and 59 series of pistols?
I've had a few 39 single stacks, and one 59 double stack over the years.

Here's my only 39 pistol right now, post yours up...

S&W 59 was the first pistol I ever shot. Eventually I tracked my father down a second clean iteration.

They're in Texas, or I'd share. Please, keep the pics coming!

That is a nice 39-2 . I have a FBI 459 with fact matt finish and dull black grips , I did see a 39-2 nickel like new for 399 left with out it went back and was gone . I also have a mint 5946 ,they are to nice to carry any more . nice ones are going up all the time .

I never really had much experience with the older S&W semi-autos, and hadn't thought much about them until recently. There have been a few threads on here lately discussing them, which kinda piqued my interest, and today I actually got to shoot one for the first time. It belonged to one of our range board members who is a long-time bulls-eye shooter...a model 52 in .38 special. Man was that thing sweet! The fit and finish was perfect, the action felt like a Swiss watch, and the fact that it feeds full-wadcutter .38s is just plain cool.

I know I can't afford a 52, but now I'm looking at the Model 39 and 59 with a lot more interest than I did before. If I can find one for a decent price I may just have to pick it up. There's some great eye candy in this thread that sure isn't helping my resolve to save money!

An older pic:

Admittedly I haven't shot it much in the past couple of years. I've only owned it for about five years; I decided that I needed to see what all the fuss was about after reading about these metal S&Ws for so long here on the forum and elsewhere. I would've preferred blued but this nickel version was had at a decent price. This example has a great DA trigger and at the time of acquiring this Greg Cote has had plenty of mags for it.

Those 1st generation guns are nice looking. Good shooting, too.

I have a model 59 I purchased around 74. I still have it and it works just fine. Good shooter and accurate.
