WVsigP228Swiss Precision and superb value for $800....Sphinx SDP
http://bearingarms.com/confirm...gun-system-contract/ Looks like Kriss USA is going to make a run at he US Army modular handgun vaporware contract. I cannot imagine that they will be able to compete on price.

I understand, you've made that point abundantly clear.

Not sure where "collecting dust" comes from. I was just out blasting away with my Competitor this past weekend. I've got three old Sphinx pistols and shoot two of them regularly. They are durable, great shooting guns, not something to be babied.
Many of them, most of them, live in a safe somewhere due to the cost and they certainly aren't being carried. That was my point. Not you in particular.

As it stands, my perception and expectation of Sphinx is different than yours. Not better or worse, it's just different due to my past experiences. I just don't associate the name with production grade pistols.
Well you should get used to it. These SDP's have been on the market for a few years now.
Times change, just a fact of life. Nothing much stays the same. I guess in this case, good for me and many others, but bad for you for some such strange reason. You didn't mention a 3000 so clutching on to the past, is well clutching onto the past.

To each their own, of course. You seem to very happy with them and you're not alone. In some ways, its good to see Sphinx selling guns in quantity. Selfishly, I would just prefer them to do what they used to do.
Well those days are over and I doubt they could stay afloat doing that these days. You'd rather this Swiss company be out of business?
When I talked to Kriss I was informed they fully plan on making a 3000 successor, and that is the production line. I know they will be expensive. Those are the competition guns and they will get much smith love prior to sale.
Perhaps think of it this way. You can have both. Certainly nothing wrong having a fine Swiss made concealed carry pistol, or home defense pistol. There is just virtually no market for a full stainless subcompact custom made gun. And instead of being sore over the new versions, be happy, you already got yours.

bac1023No, I don't need to get used to anything. I like what Sphinx used to build. If you think the SDP is all that, more power to you. No need to take offense to my opinion.
The SDP is what it is. They are good for the dollar. I'll certainly give it that. It's just not the Sphinx I know.
Most people who think they're the best thing out there have no experience with older Sphinx or many high end guns in general.

PrefontaineI don't think they are the best thing out there. I think they are the best thing out there for the money.
Either way this has run its' course. This thread is about the SDP's, not the AT's. Enjoy.

WVsigP228Just got notification that my 4 extra Sub-Compact mags are shipping today from Donna at DB Flannagan's.
As most of you know she is an awesome FFL to work with. If I had not stumbled on a super deal locally on my Subcompact I would have picked that up from her too.
Now I just need to find the right piece of leather.

It may be just a different part #. Specs are the same. I'll try to find out what's up.

MusProdThe Onyx holster for my Subcompact arrived yesterday, and I am very pleased with it.
It holds the Sub close in to the body as was observed earlier. I'll carry the Sub in it today to get a longer time experience with its initial comfort.

rhartWow, a guy let me shoot his CZ Accu Shadow last Sunday. That gun is accurate as heck. It is advertised as getting less than 3" groups at 50 meters with a Ransom rest on the CZC website. I shot a 5 shot group at 25 yards using a bench rest that was about 2 inches (which is darn good for me with my tremors and old eyes). I can't come near that with my Sphinx compact. I've made up my mind to take either a standard model or an Accu Shadow - whichever comes up first!
July 21, 2015, 08:21 PM
PrefontaineThe Accu shadow is a custom gun with an extra inch in barrell length. Also about double the cost of your compact. Comparable Sphinx will be the Production model and Daddy wants!

It will be worth the wait. The mesh they use is extremely comfortable especially here where it will be 104 this week. You really notice the difference between Kydex or leather the hotter and more humid it gets. Mine took about a month to arrive. They must being getting popular as word of mouth spreads.
