I bought one of the triple-serial German-proofed SP2022s in .40 S&W back in 2010 and have loved everything about it over the years except for the cartridge caliber. Been hunting for the same gun in 9mm ever since. Over the intervening years, I bought grips, magazines and even a threaded barrel for the gun I *knew* I'd eventually own. Finally bagged her yesterday, part of last year's batch of new old stock sold at Palmetto State Armory.

She's in mint condition, and judging by a complete lack of wear on the internals, it doesn't look like she's been fired other than the factory test rounds. Paid only $11 more than I paid for the .40 15 years ago.

For some reason, the slide won't fully go into battery with the threaded barrel installed, the barrel appears identical to the stock barrel in all dimensions, so I'm not sure what's causing it. Has anyone else experienced this? Thinking the gun needs some break-in time.

Anyway, I'm excited that my quest for this puppy is finally over, it's been a long time coming! Now for range time, and if I can get this threaded barrel thing sorted out, I'll be putting in an app for a tax stamp so I can slap a can on her.

The threaded barrel might need minor fitting and/or a slight break-in period. It’s uncommon for SIGs, but it does happen. Congrats on the SP2022. It’s a very underrated piece.

Congrats. Does the threaded barrel fit in your 40? Maybe, with a black marker on the back of the barrel and/or breech face you can see where it's rubbing, and barrel hood? Honestly, I don't think HK USP has much over this pistol. Just watched one of those stupid AI voice videos, If you have this gun, don't sell it, and SP2022 was #1. Cool

Although mine isn't proofed, it is a triple German framed. I'm kinda glad I don't see them under glass that much these days, hard to resist.

The threaded barrel does fit in the .40 slide just fine (so does the .357 Sig barrel I have for it). The 9mm slide slightly catches just shy of battery even with the stock barrel when slowly advanced closed (it's fine with the recoil spring driving it forward), so I'm thinking it just needs some rounds put through it to break it in a bit.

Now that I think about it, I might try the 9mm slide on the other frame and see if the threaded barrel works in that combo.

Wait, what?

Can you push the slide forward so the weapon goes into battery? I’ve had brand new Sigs (or freshly coated with Black-T) that were snug enough that when hand walked slowly into lockup would bind which indicated nice tight lockup which can only lead to higher accuracy.

No, not with the threaded barrel. Even the stock barrel will slightly catch short of battery when the slide is slowly advanced manually. Hoping some break-in time will help.

Nice pick up! I picked up my german proofed Sig 2022 fifteen plus years earlier one a sale with top gun supply if i recall correctly. I think they were set for sale to french police but it fell through lucky for me. I wanted the 9mm since one of my duty pistols was a Sigpro in 9mm that I loved.
