I know the Sub Compact to own is the Sig P365, no argument with that. However, I've always wanted a PPK/S and didn't commit for a whole lot of reasons.
I've read that Walther may succeed where S&W couldn't make the pistol better than the Interarms import. I still want one.....Thanks....Zebulon

Yep I bought a new release "First Edition" PPK\S about 9 months ago. Beautiful pistol. Had the "First Edition" scroll marks, nice wood grips. Typical Walther product, excellent for and finish, very well done. Haven't shot it a ton, maybe 500 rounds, fed and fired everything I used, hollowpoints. And fmj. No issues and very accurate. I actually bought a regular second one as I thought two would be good, but traded it not long after I bought it.
If you want a PPK the current production makes now the time to buy IMO

OK, I know you said "Not S&W", but after replacing the springs and putting on some checkered thicker grips really improved both the reliability and performance of the gun.

I've got a Fort Smith PPK that is actually really nice. I wish it had the older stubby beavertail instead of the new longer SW style one, but the machining is very clean and the gun has been flawless with the exception of 1 fail to feed that I'm almost certain was due to me getting a bit lazy with the grip. Probably won't ever be my primary carry, but I woudln't feel under armed on days I did carry it.

I have had many PPK/s over the decades, and I never had one of the 20 or so that was 100% reliable, even with ball. They were from every manufacture and variant, but no success with reliability. I had an Astra Constable (PPK/S clone) back in the 70's that was reliable, but traded it off at some point. As much as I would like to try another, I am not wasting my time, money or efforts.

I have owned and still own several non-S&W Walther PPxx pistols.

This PPK is about 30 years old now. I had no problems qualifying with it each year that I carried it.

This one REALLY Liked the 90 grain Hornady Custom JHPs that were popular in the nineties. This load chronographed out of my PPk at 999 FPS

In fact, the dozen or so members of the PP family that my relatives and I have owned all worked fine. Right now we have perhaps half a dozen among us

Bought my first PPK/s in 1978, which was German import through Interarms. I believe that was the year I saw the first ones manufactured in the states as well. Didn't like them as the quality seemed less and there were a lot of teething problems back then. Also have a '68 PPK and a '73 PPK/s and many Interarms US made PPK's and PPK/S. I always found the quality of the American manufactured ones to be sporadic. Some were okay some not. One PPK from the 90's shot to the left due to barrel and slide misalignment. Did not care for the two S&W ones I bought either as I had problems with those including crumbling plastic grips. I'd gotten rid of all my American manufactured ones as I tried to find one I liked.

Got a new PPK in October hoping to find a decent one to shoot a lot and was excited to see the high quality throughout. Everything is almost too tight but has worked in well over shooting. The safety lever was hard to work at first, but is now much better. I was a little worried but the one I got is a great shooter with a better trigger than I've felt in a PPK. They did a fine job...at least with the one I got. I still do not like the extended beavertail they kept on it, tho.

I'm committed to one as soon as I can sell some other things.....Thank you....Zebulon

Still carry an early Interarms PPK/s. Never had any issues.
