Seems like a P226 chambered for 40 S&W that was common enough at one time. What would make it a MK25 without the special markings? As I recall (vaguely) in the beginning those special “real SEAL” guns had things like “coated” internals and Parkerized, chrome-lined barrels as well, but I believe all that was dropped after a time. FWIW I never heard of a 40 MK25. ► 6.4/93.6 “Most men … can seldom accept the simplest and most obvious truth if it … would oblige them to admit the falsity of conclusions … which they have woven, thread by thread, into the fabrics of their lives.” — Leo Tolstoy

No such thing as a MK25 in 40. All P226 Navy/MK25 pistols are 9mm. Could possibly be a MK25 lower with a 40cal upper, but then it's not really a MK25 anymore. https://www.sigsauer.com/p226-mk25-full-size.html No SKUs for 40.

Thinking the lack of an anchor on the slide or no mention of the QR code isn't working in his favor. If he can produce the QR label, it will have the caliber noted. I only know of the MK-25 being chambered in 9mm Para or 9x21 IMI.

Why that cartridge? Who/what agency had those? ► 6.4/93.6 “Most men … can seldom accept the simplest and most obvious truth if it … would oblige them to admit the falsity of conclusions … which they have woven, thread by thread, into the fabrics of their lives.” — Leo Tolstoy

The MK-25 was chambered in 9x21 IMI for the Italian market.

Thanks. I knew the cartridge was acceptable in Italy but did not realize that the pistol was sold there. ► 6.4/93.6 “Most men … can seldom accept the simplest and most obvious truth if it … would oblige them to admit the falsity of conclusions … which they have woven, thread by thread, into the fabrics of their lives.” — Leo Tolstoy

MK25 had a different rail. The early “Navy” models were rail-less.

Ah, yes. I knew about the rail-less models, but was not aware or forgot that the later rails were different. ► 6.4/93.6 “Most men … can seldom accept the simplest and most obvious truth if it … would oblige them to admit the falsity of conclusions … which they have woven, thread by thread, into the fabrics of their lives.” — Leo Tolstoy
