Correct, the last time this happened it eventually led to SIG adopting a second mag. vendor.
Given the recent increase in gun sales, coupled with ongoing disruptions in the supply chain already, it only stands to reason that shortages like these are going to occur and continue for some time.
Deemed a "critical" or "essential" business, SIG is just lucky to still be allowed to stay open during this emergency when so many other businesses are closed.

If you have been playing this game or the home version this bump in the road should come as no surprise and is just one of our regularly scheduled panics or shortages in the gun world.
If you are new to this game, Here is a little advice I will offer, this isn’t the first time, it won’t be the last. Get whatever gear you might want during the good times. Once you do this for a few years these things barely register as a blip on your radar.
Take care, shoot safe Chris

I agree 100%. The only thing this whole "Since all this shit happened" has honestly affected me, is the ability to get to the range and monthly training classes.

My first thought after reading SIGs plan is that dealers are stealing mags out of the boxes and selling them for extra profit. By shipping the mags directly to the buyers SIG can prevent this. I have been reading a lot of threads about people buying a gun and there was only one mag in the box. The dealer plays dumb and says it came that way.
^^^Per the SIG, all Pistols shipped One Magazine have a '1M' suffix in the SKU/Part Number....It shouldn't be too hard to identify any unscrupulous Dealers!

They legitimately are coming from Sig that way. Probably the last 2 weeks.

Or, could it be a marketing scheme to scrape customers from dealers and redirect the accessory business to the Sig Store? Just thinking out loud here...

Could be... I guess you can ramp up your production of the guns, but nothing you can do about magazine supply when you don’t make the magazines. I agree it’s a little annoying competing with manufacturers to sell their products because the manufacturer should have the distributors and dealers best interests at heart and you can’t really tell when they are competing against you.
At least everything is out of stock on their website too. It would be extremely upsetting for them to ship guns with 1 mag and have the additional mags for sale on their website in stock

They tried this exact stunt back in March of 2009. They put out a press release claiming a "worldwide magazine shortage."
Meanwhile Smith & Wesson was running a promotion where you received a coupon for two free mags in addition to the two mags that came with the M&P Shield and Glock was shipping its new 4th Gen framed pistols with three mags.
Now if you want to contrast things with the Paul Erhart (sp?) days of Sigarms, Paul came on Sigforum in August of 2005 to advise that P220 mags were going to be in short supply because they had an emergency order to fill for the Louisiana State Police who at the time were using the Sig P220. (Recall this was during Hurricane Katrina.) Paul explained that Sigarms needed to pull stock back from its distributors in order to fill the order.
A number of members here offered to ship unused P220 magazines back to Sigarms to help out with the order.

About a year ago (maybe two?) Beretta ran a promotion whereby anyone buying an APX received five free mags and a loader. Heck of a deal, and I partook of that one.
...or maybe they are actually having problems sourcing the mags due to the clusterfuck that is the world right now? And whatever stock they had on hand was sacked when everyone and their mother went out and bought a gun for the first time?
I mean, they're marking these guns with a distinct SKU and offering you a voucher. That's not like they're stealing from you and trying to hide it.

Well, they had better be marking the prices down about $60 per magazine. SIG F**Ks you with mag prices to begin with. They better eat their own cake when they sell the guns without extra mags.
