So I purchased a LEO trade in P226 back in 2003. I had plans to turn it into an ooh-ahh gun – you now, when people see it, they say ooohh….aaahh. Back then, I had thoughts of having the frame and maybe the barrel done in titanium nitride dull gold, having the slide and controls done in dull black, new grips, and new sights. I still want to have this pistol done in a two-tone variation. Titanium nitride is harder to find now and very costly.
I would appreciate input and recommendations for having this type of work done. The frame is alloy so that might limit the options. I realize that the rational folks may say it’s cost prohibitive or just plain dumb, but I would like to hear some options. Pictures would be welcomed and appreciated. Thanks in advance.

To CCR for
Top in CPII white
Bottom in Cera-Hide black

or, for a reverse two-tone look,
Top in CPII Dusk
Bottom in Nikote

And, they are having a 30% off sale right now, until May 15th. https://sigforum.com/eve/forums...0601935/m/4490094864

Sir, I am the bad kid on the block so here we go. Shoot it till you need to repair the pistol. As you said it is a L/E trade in so it has earned it's stripes. Shoot it enjoy it when Sig puts out their yearly refresh your pistol for this price then refinish it in Nitron or some other finish. My old mud rail 226 is hard Chromed and it is used like a rented mule. I like a pistol with finish issues so I can just add more. By the way what agency used that weapon? The only local agency in Ga. that issued Sigs was Morrow PD. us poor cops southside were still getting round guns when they carried Sigs. Thanks VI...

I dont believe tin coat can be applied to a aluminum alloy frame. Barrels are done often as its a popular and durable finish. It is applied as any other PVD coating. I dont know the whole process but the slide in gold tin coat sounds kinda yucky.

Send it to GGI. They can detail strip it, inspect it, replace all the springs, give it an action job, send it to CCR for a refinish and you will have a great gun.

CCR would do good work on your pistol.

Another option for you is Ion Bond DLC in it's many variations. Matte, Satin, High Polish in Black, Silver, Flat Dark Earth. It is an extremely hard and durable finish. The alloy frame could also be done or done in another finish of your choice, eg, Hard Chrome, Electroless Nickel, Nikote.

Ion Bond is not cheap, especially a high polish color other than black. You most likely have heard of this treatment. Or send it to Ford's for a fantastic hard chrome finish...and long wait.

The copper or bronze colors look very nice on pistols.

I was very pleased with the pistols I had done by CCR. I bought the Walther as shown but they did the Beretta to my specs and the HK slide.

A buddy of mine brought a Rock River 9MM 1911. When he ordered it, he told me he was getting a "flat black" frame and a "Distressed Copper" colored slide. To me, that's just the niftiest gun I've ever seen.

Almost too nifty to shoot.

Almost!

There ain't ought to be anything that is too pretty to shoot. Cars should be driven. Guns should be shot.

If you do go the TiN or nickel route, consider what they'd look like with contrasting controls.

I TiNed a project Glock with contrasting controls, barrel, and guide rod. Found stainless controls for a two tone Desert Eagle. Followed that with gold on black. After that, nickel controls on a P220 almost happened by themselves.

Let us know what you ultimately decide.

I had CCR do my last duty gun 229. I did a matte black upper with a tan lower. Still loooks good and gets comments. I'd go for it. Life is short...be happy.
