I bought one of the 1911’s from Turkey
A Girsan.

First impressions with disassembly was pretty good. I have Baers and Dan Wesson’s this isn’t one of them but it’s a LOT less money.

The rails were smooth and it had good fitment a decent trigger at 5 pounds on my gauge.

Barrel looks good no burrs or areas of concern.
It comes with a flat wire recoil spring which seems to be the new thing. I’m seeing Wilson Combat doing it.

Putting it back together after the slide removal was straight forward like any 1911.

And then it was time to shoot.

The first 50 rounds were Geco 230 fmj. They shot fine although three rounds did have hang ups. The rounds were missed by the extractor though fully seated in the chamber the slide didn’t go fully into battery preventing the gun from firing. It was a simple fix of locking the slide back and removing the mag, this let the chambered round to fall out of the barrel. I loaded it back in the magazine and racked the slide and the round fired fine. This happened 3 time. Once in the middle of the mag and twice on the last round in the mag. I’m thinking the extractor is a bit tight and with a few hundred rounds it should clear up. Or I may fiddle with the tension a bit.
I’m going to be shooting it this weekend a good bit more.
Stay tuned if interested.

I’ll be interested in hearing about how it goes at the range! Thanks!

I've read good things. Nice to see a metal guide rod.
I'm also a big believer (being old) that some firearms require two or three hundred rounds to 'break in'.
Thanks for posting. Looking forward to reading more.

I'm interested in their BHP. With the demise of new ones from Browning, I hope they're good.

Had it out Saturday for a good range session. Various mags Wilson’s, Springfield’s, ProMag, Dan Wesson and 10 round Chip McCormick.

The magwell is not flared at all that is my biggest disappointment. Lol

The gun only had one issue with loading the round ahead of the extractor as it did earlier. But after about 150 rounds the issue hasn’t shown up again. It’s now over 250 rounds.

I may add an arched mag-well it should both aid the mag insertion and help with my shooting low. It really needs new sights.

Also fed it a full mag of XTP’s. It fed and functioned fine with no issues.

I haven’t accuracy tested it on paper yet. Just steel gongs and such on my range.

A buddy was over and asked to shoot it after I had field stripped and wiped down and relubed the Girsan.
He shot it left handed and he hadn’t shot this gun before. Function was perfect though I came to find out he was trying to hit a squirrel at 30 yards or so. I never saw the squirrel till he started shooting. He missed in spectacular fashion. But the gun worked ! Smile

What do they cost? I'd like to get a inexpensive 1911 for carry.

This was less than $500 out the door. I bet it could be had for less.

You should be able to flare the magwell a little with a Dremel.

It looks like it has a cast frame, judging by the magwell picture.

Yes steel and I bet cast. I may try to flare it myself but not in a hurry to.

A friend came up with one in plain blue without bayonet lug yesterday. It seemed well finished, rather tight and with very stout springs. He said it shoots reliably with a Wilson magazine, not the MecGar that came with it.

Haha. Stolen.

I'm totally going to start referring to handgun rails as "bayonet lugs" from here on out. Big Grin

That ought to earn me some puzzled looks at the next police academy Range Week.

Turkye is leaning strongly towards a dictatorship, I would never want to own a gun from that country.

This isn't a political thread man. Unless you have something relevant to add keep this kind of talk to yourself.

What's your problem? Point is, NO politics in non-political threads.

Dude, this is not pertinent to this thread. I don't care if you're interested in the gun or not so stay out of it.

O.k. Have fun with it. (No pun intended)
