Does anyone make a smaller, flush fit or lower profile mag basepad for the HK45 mags?

If not, will the flat USP 45 mag basepads work? Regards 18DAI

I bought the FIRST USP 45 available in my state, helps to have the right friends. ;-)

Since then 2 45c's and HK 45's.

My advice is to buy the one that feels best in YOUR hands. I have Medium size hands and the HK 45 feels better in my hands. I also like that it fits normal lights etc without an adaptor. The USP has a proprietary rail and the original H&K light isn't as bright as the new LED's.

They all are super reliable and accurate. I LOVE the LEM trigger and all mine have it now. I also understand that preferences vary and you might not like the same thing. I would say that the LEM trigger does take a little warming up to so don't forget about it if you don't like it at first, It's a GREAT trigger. Others are good too though.

In the end it might be a question of are you willing to trade the 13rd mags of the USP (IF you can find them) for the better ergo and better rail of the HK45? Me? I have a HK45 with a surefire X300 in the bedstand.........

Remember, this is all supposed to be for fun...................

I have a HK45 with the LEM trigger and absolutely love this combination. I find it easy to shoot and incredibly accurate. The pistol is really comfortable in my hand and compared to the Glock 21 and USP, I notice how slim it is and find it a little more comfortable to carry, but these are all personal preferences, YMMV. The trough in the trigger guard has never bothered me, even after extended range sessions.

I have owned and shot the HK45. I prefer the USP over it. I have a USP45 V1 and a USP45 Tactical LE version.

Thanks all for the additional replies and info!

My dealer called me this afternoon. No joy. Not only did none of his distributors have a V2 German made HK45, NONE of them had any HK45s at all.

A quick look on the auction boards, showed a few V1s, but I am not interested in over paying for the gun. And then adding transfer fees and shipping. Nice pistol, but I am NOT in a hurry.

Thanks gain for all the experiences and information. Best regards, 18DAI

Fondled the offerings but they didn’t even give me the “cool new toy” itch so USP Tactical is still the one … and I bought a Match weight for it as well.

I have a USP in 9mm, and have shot a USPc in 9mm. I prefer the P30/HK45 grip over the USP, but I haven't shot a USP .45 to know how that compares.

I'm not much of a fan of the HK45c, the P2000 style grip doesn't work as well with my hands and it's one of the few guns that is difficult for me to maintain grip without movement.

The only reason I've soured on my HK45t is that I now have a Mk23 and they're both suppressor hosts primarily, so the HK45 doesn't really get to come out any more.

I've had an Hk45 and HK45C. Quality firearms. Really nice fit and finish for polymer framed guns. Accurate. Reliable. Ergonomics just didn't work for me.

All my 45 acp handguns are now 1911s of one form or another. I've got a p30 in 9mm that I love, but HKs 45 acp pistols just didn't do it for me.

I own both a USP in .45 ACP and a HK45.

I really can't choose between the two. I think the HK45 is slightly more ergonomic, but I have owned my USP for 25 years and I am more acclimated to its feel.

I had an HK45 tactical for use with a suppressor I have. It was one of the few guns I have ever had that I just did not like. I have plenty of HKs including a USP9SD tactical. I sold the HK45 and I’m hunting for a used USP 45 tactical. For some reason I like the blocky feel of the USP better than the HK45. Also, I never got used to the LEM trigger and prefer the traditional DA/SA.

I have an HK45 from around 2008. I also have a P220 Legion SAO and a Springfield 1911 Mil Spec NM I rebuilt with mostly Ed Brown internals.

If I could have only one and I had to depend on it for self defense, it would be the HK. The recoil buffer and grip really work to make a 28 oz .45 shoot softer than a 38 oz all steel 1911. In SA the trigger is reasonably light and crisp. Mode of carry is very versatile including hammer down or cocked and locked. And I trust its reliability.

The HK45 is a great gun no doubt but there is no pistol I can consistently shoot better than my HK USP 45. Added a GGG rail adapter, Streamlight TLR-7A flex, Variant-9 detent plate (safety only no decock function), and replaced the lockout lanyard insert with a standard insert. In addition, I got rid of the extended magazine floorplates.
