ElKabongOn a 3rd Gen roll this week….5906
Picked this up at an pawn shop today
I posted a previous thread on a grail 4566tsw
This one is a lot more common, but getting harder to find in good shape
Someone put wood S&w grips on it, but they’re pretty chunky, I’ll get a nice set of square plastic grips, I prefer them to the rounded back strap version
Got 3 mags, one of them an early 59 mag
$430, we don’t have sales tax on guns and ammo in WV anymore

18DAIActually, I think you really scored AGAIN!

That appears to be a special stocking dealer special 5906, that came with those wood looking Delrin grips, from the factory. Limited numbers produced. Congrats! Regards 18DAI
7+1 Rounds of hope and change

Serial number dates the gun to 87
Theses grips look feel like wood, KSD iirc made walnut grips for smith
The model you mention was high polish with the Wood grain Xenoy grips, and was sold in 93, according the SCSW
Would’ve been nice tho !

LincolnSixEchoNice score! Love the 3rd Gen Smiths. My example is also in quite nice condition compared to many I see so I consider myself lucky for finding it on a whim at a gun show a few years back. Something about these older Smiths just feel so great and they shoot and good as they look and feel!

4MUL8RI used to carry the 5906 as a young man tasked with going to unoccupied foreclosed-upon homes to remove the detritus and debris. It fit into a (gasp) fanny pack by Galco. I would like to have another.

randymanThat's one beautiful score - I really like the wood grips. These pieces are like a small Abrams tank and feels like they're almost as heavy. My TSW has a trigger that rates ahead of some of my Sig SRTs.

WolfpackerI have multiple 3rd Gen Smiths. Great guns.
I love those wood grips as well. Are they hard to find?

TexasRaiderNice pick up, these are on my 'Wanted' list. And congrats on the very 80's early design, I'm in the minority here, but I actually prefer the large, hooked trigger guard. At one glance, one knows exactly what decade that came from! Much preferred to the watered down, smoother guard found on later versions.
Nicely done!

We don't? Great when did that change?
No car is as much fun to drive, as any motorcycle is to ride.

jjcThere you go "raining on my parade" I had a 5906, that I loved. I was showing it to a fellow and he dropped it on the edge of a cement curb and destroyed it and said I'm sorry and left. It just destroyed the gun, I sold it really cheap. Every time I see one now I want it. That's a great looking gun and you got it for a decent price.
