I have a fairly new ruger LCP2 in 380. Put 100rds through it and its good to go as deep pocket carry when I can't use anything else. Not a range gun, and 380 ammo has dried up as well. 6 rounds.

Seeing good reviews on the LCP Max version. Grip is slightly larger to handle 10rd mag. All other dimensions are the same.

See them for 330. Maybe get 200 for mine?

Worth swapping?

I have both. If possible, I would keep the LCP 2, you never know when you might need another small pistol. I have been very pleased with both models.

I also have the LCP 22. My Max is being refinished in Ion Bond, so I carry either of my 2 Ruger LCP 's, while it's out.

As a note, about the only part interchangeable from the Max and standard is the takedown pin.

380 ammo is non existent in my area. I paid $49 for a box of 50 FMJ 380 today...they had a box of JHP, 50 rounds for...$115..... no thanks....I don't know if the gunshop was scalping, or if ammo prices have risen to thatlevel.

Is the size/weight similar on both 380's?

I had just enough fmj ammo to run through mine.

4 more rounds in the 380 is tempting if the overall size stays the same.

The Max is about 10% larger, only in the grip area. Weight does pick up, especially when using the 12 round magazines. I carry the 12 round mags as my spare, and use the 10 round flat baseplate mag.

Using the 10 round mag, there's really not a lot weight difference, My Max has been very accurate and reliable in the few rounds I've shot through it.

I put a Galloway Precision trigger in it, to eliminate trigger sting.

The Max is a little taller and minutely thicker. Empty weights are the same.

I wouldn't.

I regard my Gen. 2 LCP as being the little pistol I carry when I can't carry anything larger, when I'm doing yard work, or when I'm just quickly running out to fetch takeout and all I'm wearing is gym shorts and a tee. I wouldn't want it to be any larger, in any dimension, than it is, nor any heavier.

I've the 7-round magazines for my LCP. With one in the pipe that makes eight.

Tough call.
I have the LCP II & I use the 7 round mags +1 giving me 8 total.
The Max is intriguing though. Better sights & greater capacity for very little difference dimensionally. I'm not sure which way you should go. Either way would be the right choice. I do know that I'll never sell mine. (I do wish it they made one in 32 ACP though).

I love my LCP Max. It is not a range gun but it is accurate at 7yds and even with the 12-round extended mag carries well with a pocket holster. In particular, the trigger is much improved. There is a long take up but a clean break. The front sight is a night sight. I wear a size XL glove and the Max fits my hand well. It was an impulse purchase and I was surprised at how much I like it. Bottom line is 12-rounds of Hornady Critical Defense or Federal 99gr HST IN YOUR POCKET is pretty comforting.

That's what I'm afraid of.
It looks perfect with extra capacity over the lcp2.
I only carry it when a gun is impossible to carry.I'm afraid I will start carrying it too frequently.
