So I've been looking into getting some fancy wood grips for the Colt. I've got a couple of sets of the micarta/G-10, but after seeing some of the pics in the 1911pron thread, I thought I might check out some of these 'burl' grips. First question, besides Raasco, where else should I look? Second, I have seen a few websites with "Grade A" or "Grade B" in their descriptions. I assume Grade A means less cracks/voids/etc.? And feel free to post pics, especially if you have a stainless 1911 with fancy wood grips. I'm liking these ironwood burls, but I also saw something called 'spalted maple' that is pretty cool. _______________________________ The artist formerly known as AllenInWV

http://www.craigspegel.com/#grips https://esmeralda.cc/ http://www.cylinder-slide.com/...catshow&ref=PHM1911G http://www.thefinergrain.com/ With respect to the grades, I think you will find that each vendor uses their own system. It will be difficult to compare. For example, Craig Spegel uses things like S and S++ to differentiate his woods.

Herretts makes an excellent grip, in all grades of wood. http://www.herrettstocks.com/ Esmerelda: https://esmeralda.cc/ I also really like Ahrend's: http://ahrendsgripsusa.com/woods.htm The fish is mute, expressionless. The fish doesn't think because the fish knows everything.
