Buy that Classic SIG in All Stainless,

I had sold off all my 1911's chambered in .45ACP at least a decade ago. I also recently sold off all my remaining all stainless SIG P220's chambered in .45ACP.
I have a reasonable stock of .45ACP ammo, and was down to one Ruger Old Army single action black powder revolver with a .45ACP conversion cylinder as my only remaining firearm chambered in .45ACP.
While that Ruger could be an effective home self defense revolver with it's six shots, you do have to remove the conversion cylinder from the cylinder frame to do a reload.
I don't do revolver reloads like Jerry Miculek, especially a single action model that requires cylinder removal for a reload.

I am fully committed to DA/SA semi automatics for self defense purposes/social work, in SIG and HK. Out in public, a HK P2000sk in 9mm is my EDC, and my .32ACP LW Seecamp is backup.
So when this one showed up in the classifieds here on the SIG Forum, I bought it and had it transferred.
It feels very nice in the hands. We got a snow dump here yesterday/today so it will be a few days until I can get out and shoot the new arrival.
It is my first experience with a full sized HK pistol, which happens to be the V1 variant.
DA/SA, manual safety cocked and locked, and decocker all with one external lever. It is an interesting concept.
Thanks Fuego220!

Congratulations - they're neat guns that I think got here just a little too late to be a big deal. I've got a full-size and a compact and enjoy them.

Awesome. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t want one of these.

Take care, shoot safe.

HK45 was on my short list until a CZ 97BD stole the spot.
Will revisit when funding allows...............

I picked up a previously loved HK45 several years ago and have somewhere between 600 and 800 flawless rounds through it as it is a laser beam at the range and always brings a smile to my face. I did upgrade it to the light LEM and I really like that trigger system. Today, I primarily shoot and carry 9mm (VP9, Glock 17/19 and Beretta 92) and don’t shoot .45ACP as much anymore due to the cost of ammo but still manage to take the HK45 to the range now and then.

As I said on that other thread I upgraded my USP45 Expert. Dawson fiber optic front, HK45c mag release, LEM with Match parts. All that being said, that HK45 sure looks way more comfortable to hold than the 2x4 that is the USP grip. lol. Good pickup.

What’s funny is I have fairly small hands. Large glove but on the small side of that. I love the USP grip. Love the USP .45 grip. Makes no sense but they work for me.

Beautiful gun. I’m looking to get the Full size in the next few weeks. It’s hard to go wrong with HK or Sig. I’m really struggling with this purchase. I have it down to the HK/FN or Springfield XD. I want striker fired because I already have a 1911 hammer fired. I am having a hard tim buying a Springfield though. Outside of my 1911, I only buy S&W, HK and Sig.
I hope you love that baby. Congrats

It was 60 degrees outside today at my location, so a trip to the local gun club outdoor range sounded like fun.
I fired 200 rounds of Winchester & Federal .45ACP ball ammo through the new to me HK45.
It performed flawlessly, zero malfunctions. Exactly as I expected. All the fired brass was in a small neat pile.

The "ditch" inside the trigger guard that the bottom of the trigger travels in as it is pressed rearward is a bit irritating to the side of my trigger finger. But nothing serious.
I don't do much in the way of any real "work" until spring arrives. My hands/fingers will soon toughen up doing outside projects.

The recoil impulse with the HK45 is different than a steel framed 1911, or an all stainless SIG P220.
But it isn't harsh or abusive.

So the HK45 appears to be a very nice pistol. Accurate, reliable, and somewhat lighter in weight than some steel framed full size .45ACP pistols.
I guess it's time to source some self defense .45ACP ammo and get some leather ordered.

How heavy is it with the suppressor and full magazine?
Do you find it as accurate as without the suppressor?

I hate that finger rubbing hump on the HKs. Used a dremel to remove most of it. Much better

My HK45 doesn't have any type of a "hump" or "bump" molded into the inside/bottom of the polymer trigger guard.
There is a "ditch" or "trough" where the tip of the trigger passes through as the trigger is pressed rearward. It's very tough to Dremel something away that doesn't exist.
If the ditch/trough wasn't there, the tip of the trigger would hit the inside/bottom of the trigger guard and it would be physically blocked from moving fully to the rear.
This allows using a longer length full sized trigger with increased leverage in a slightly more compact trigger guard. I can live with that.

A while back I ordered a fancy revolver holster from one of the commonly known "top tier" holster makers. It was slightly custom, I had black Elephant trim added to it.
Advertised lead time was 4.5 to 6 months. It ultimately ended up at about eight months for delivery.
I spent several hours yesterday window shopping online at a variety of leather holster makers websites. Lead times are still out of control.

Just to get started with the HK45, I reluctantly ordered an OWB kydex holster and a OWB single kydex magazine pouch from G-Code.
The lead time is in weeks vs the multiple months to almost a year for almost anything in leather.

I’ve used MTR custom leather in the past and while I don’t know what their current lead time is I do remember my holster arriving a good bit “early”. I had an OWB snap holster made for a Beretta 92 and was very happy with the product.

It’s not light with the can, but accuracy is the same with or without the suppressor. The barrel is a Rim County threaded barrel. It’s as nice as the factory barrel and has the threads I wanted.

The Trough is not on the HK45c, its on the full size. Gray Guns and others can remove it for you. Have done it on multiple HKs that have it and it makes for a nicer shooting experience for me.

I can't speak for the reasons DaBigBR made that statement.

But I will attempt to explain.
The shift to striker fired handguns for law enforcement was already in full swing when the the HK45 was designed. Glock, S&W M&P, SIG, and others.
Then SIG won the contract for the US military. M17 & M18
Most shooters score better with striker fired handguns. Shooters only need to master one trigger press.
DA/SA guns require the shooter to master two entirely different trigger presses.

Some of the backstory history in the HK45 design is in this video. Including it's US military intended usage.

And yet there is no need to master two trigger presses with the HK 45 or 45C. Cocked and locked!
