Many years ago the Fresno PD transitioned from the 645 to another pistol, and when the officers were given a choice to purchase theirs my SIL made the good decision to do so. I really enjoyed shooting that pistol enough to buy my own 4506 from a member here. They are heavy, but such a pleasure to shoot!

I mean it’s a pig. An absolute monster of a cannon.
But that said, it has a decent trigger, nice short reset, it more than meets service pistol accuracy, and above all, it is reliable. Straight up feeds anything you can cram into the magazine. On mine, that included empty cases.

Maybe 6 or 7 years back I saw a mint no box 2 mags at a shop I stopped at 399 , I jumped on that one and took it home found a new old stock Desantis black leather and also a older Safariland shoulder rig for it , good to go !
What great photos!! I bought a S&W 645 in 1986, and it was consistently more accurate than my 1974 Colt Gold Cup National Match .45 acp. It was heavy on the hip, but a comforting beast to shoot - it devoured any type of handled, and over time the trigger became much smoother. It's the only gun I deeply regret selling, Thanks so much for showing us these great photos. They invoke great nostalgia for me.

I saw one in a shop in 2008, went back the next day to get it, and it was gone.
Haven't seen one since.
Only one of the few that got away.

I have a 645 I inherited almost thirty years ago. I haven't shot it in probably ten years. I'll have to dig that big tank of a pistol out of the safe for my next range trip.
