I got a Black Friday flyer from Brownell's which included a Glock 19 complete slide and barrel for $199. I've been wanting to do this for a long time and I couldn't pass up on the deal. Ordered ten Magpul G19 mags and was set for just over $300!

Pretty good deal.

Just note that after installing your new G19 slide on your G23 frame, you'll still have a .40 ejector in your G23 frame.

This should still work fine most of the time, and is just fine for a range gun. But if you want it to be 100% reliable and completely converted into a G19, you'll also want to snag a G19 trigger housing, which will have the 9mm ejector.

Assuming your Glock is a Gen 3 (which is what that slide is designed for), you'd want Glock factory part SP00322, which is the Gen 3 9mm trigger housing with included ejector. It'll run you ~$10-$15. The rest of your existing G23 trigger parts (trigger spring, connector, trigger and bar) will swap over directly into that housing. And there are tons of good tutorials online for removing/swapping/reinstalling Glock trigger groups, which will be a breeze for an experienced gunsmith like you. No fancy tools needed, other than a 3/32 punch.

You can also just swap the ejector if you prefer... if you think it's worth changing. Common internet lore used to be that if you swapped a .40 upper onto a 9mm frame/ejector you needed to change to a .40 ejector, or the bent ejector could impact the primer and blow your arm off. However it never made sense to me since the distance from the center of the bore/primer to the ejector would be the same as it is on a 9mm, and nobody complains about that being dangerous.

Regardless, Benny if you find it doesn't eject how you like once you try it, consider changing ejectors or trigger housings. Personally I've found that my .40 Glocks running 9mm conversion barrels give me BTF regardless of what ejector, extractor, extractor plunger combination I try, but I get fairly frequent BTF from my Gen 3-4 glocks even with factory guts so FML.
