Did anyone else take advantage of the Presidents Day sales at Galco & High Noon Holsters?

For years I’ve bought pants 2” too big to accommodate IWB carry. I recently bought pants that fit so I needed OWB holsters and took advantage of the sales so I could comfortably tote around my most carried pistols again.

Didn’t hit the sales, but I too have recently switched from IWB to OWB. Don’t know why I didn’t do it sooner. Will keep my IWB holster for occasions when it is necessary, but man I am liking it on my belt more.

My pants certainly fit better and really I don’t see much of a difference. I had to wear something to cover even with IWB. So far it’s more comfortable.

I never really understood IWB unless you were tucking in.

A good high and tight OWB is far more comfortable and easier to use and basically requires the same amount of concealment as IWB. Sure you conceal the barrel/bottom of the holster but that’s minute to me.

I’m coming around to that thinking. It only took about 20 yearsSmile

I tried IWB for a long time and I could never find a comfortable solution.

The solution is getting used to discomfort.

Takes about 3-6 months, proper fitting pants (sometimes a size larger, depending on girth, body size, holster, weapon).

OWB is definitely more comfortable (did it a lot over the winter months this year) but well fitting clothing, belt, and dedication means you eventually forget about IWB.

I’ve found High Noon Holsters medium duty gear to be the best. They’re durable, thin, and affordable. I bought my first Mr. Softy in 2004 for my P239 and almost exclusively used various models from the series since. For some reason I just always thought the IWB was hidden better. I guess it is a bit still requires a covering garment. If the OWB holster rides high the IWB advantage seems negligible.

I really had no issues except I was tired of buying pants that were too big. 5.11 also had a holiday sale so I bought five pairs of pants from them but in a proper waist size (28” vs 30”). That required OWB holsters. I wanted to try the Galco for my K9 and it’s nice but the High Noon stuff is great for much less money. I’ll probably buy other OWB holsters during a future sale for my CZ P-01, HK P7M8, P239, and maybe a few others but these were the ones I carry the most so I started with them.

Some of my IWB setups.
